Chapter 28

Two

Ingo and Emmet lay over the arms of the couch. Both incredibly drunk now with four bottles of wine on the table. The guards were laughing, another bottle in each of their hands.

"Oh you both are such a sight." Deeds chuckled as he stood up pulling back on his jacket he had shed so he could pull on another shirt since his shirt was now soaked with wine. Having to pour wine down their throats because they wouldn't drink anymore. Having felt that it was beginning to influence Lake.

"Don't you worry, Lake will be fine now." He pulled the tie up to his chin and smiled.

"What are you planning to do with her?" He looked up at Ingo who still appeared to have some recollection of his surroundings. Emmet looked to be too flooded now.

"Well if I'm to use her next year for her blood I can't have you two still connected to her. My blood will cancel that out and she'll be mine." He chuckled while buttoning his jacket then opened the door. "You understand that right Mr. Submas?" He chuckled as he walked out.

"No...Lake..." Ingo tried to stand up, but crumbled to the ground.

A few moments of the world spinning a face came into view. He couldn't recognize the person, but for some reason it felt familiar.

"Wow you both are pathetic."

"Lake...we have to save...Lake." Ingo rolled onto his side trying to get up, but his head felt so heavy he just rolled onto his other side.

"You mean the cub?" Cub...? Ingo just nodded because honestly couldn't wrap his head around anything else.

The woman walked over to a light socket and smiled at Ingo. She completely disappeared within a plumb of purple smoke. One he recognized that his Chandelure could also do.

"Ghost...type?" He looked up at Emmet who was drooling onto the upholstery. He never did take his alcohol well. It was why they never drank.

The lights went out.

Ingo jumped and coughed, just why wasn't he having a hard time? Why did he suddenly feel like he was sobering up really fast?

"I found two." The door hit the wall really loudly and the door was kicked closed again. Lake was over the newcomer's shoulder, and an infant in her arms.

"This one yes, that one no." Ingo told her. Wait...wasn't that a bit heartless of him to say? Just what were they to do with the baby now? "I don't know who that one belongs to." Obviously he wasn't in the car when Deeds told Lake about him having a son.

"Eh, we'll just keep him." Ingo jumped and looked at the girl.

"What do you mean keep him? I don't even know who you are!" The female looked at him and then down at Lake.

"You woke me...take responsibility...Master."

It dawned on him, this was a Windalyn." He gasped as he looked at her even more, seeing the small wing buds, the black hair, purple eyes, the ghost powers.

"Oh no..." Ingo pinched the bridge of his nose. He was getting a headache. What to do with two? At least this one was an adult. "I fucked up..." He screwed his eyes closed, groaning loudly.
