Speed

Ingo's eyes roamed over the face of the woman who pretended to be Volo. She wasn't too tall, but her hair glowed in the night air. Snow began to fall softly onto its golden hue. Now that he was close enough to her, he noticed that her body was littered with scars, and still closing wounds. She seemed to be in fights all the time.

She looked around at Emmet who seemed to be helping Ava up. Luckily, she didn't seem as dizzy anymore.

"And why are you here now?" Ingo asked the woman. The woman pointed toward the mountain.

"They found out about the mountain. The mother has summoned her children and they'll be falling back to this spot to protect the infants." She looked around at Ava who nodded as she stuck the berry into her mouth. She paused as she was about to speak. She looked down at the handful of berries.

"What is this?" She asked. Pepper burst out laughing and pointed to Avari.

"Just pulled from the emerald huh? Oh this is her first meal." She giggled watching as Ava turned away from Peppers prying eyes and kept eating.

"First things first." Ingo grabbed the bridge of his nose and pointed toward the compound. "Lake went that way and Barbara has since followed." Pepper turned to see that the cursed woman did indeed follow the child into the forest.

"Do you still feel her?" She looked at Emmet. Emmet closed his eyes and nodded.

"She says she's in the barn. She's safe...for now." Emmet stood up with a little effort. It seemed one of his legs was giving him trouble. Ingo ran his fingers over his face before popping another berry into his mouth. He looked at the cursed quill and groaned. He hoped he never had to deal with one of those again. He had become accustomed to Lady Sneaslers poisons, but it took a while.

"Come on...lets go." Ava turned to address Pepper but the woman was gone. Ava sniffed the air and then looked incredibly confused. Just where did she go?

Lake sat down on a bale of hay. The newly evolved Rapidash munched on it as they waited. She tried sending a picture of the pokemon to her brothers, but no one answered back. This was starting to get rather scary.

The 9 year old walked over to the small door and slowly peaked out realizing there was a man standing not even five feet from the stable doors. On the ground sitting next to him was a Shroomish. Lake covered her mouth trying her best to hide her breathing. She went over to the back of the stall and pushed herself against one of the pillars hoping no one would see her there.

It then dawned on her at that moment that she wasn't breathing hard, actually she was breathing normally. That was odd, normally she'd at least have to use her inhaler.

She could hear his movements just beyond the doors. Her Rapidash reared up and slammed its hooves down onto the floor in front. Dislodging one of the plank boards. It slammed right into the man's crotch. The horrible crunch, and the almost inaudible scream that came from the man's throat caused Lake to backpedal again. She had never seen a man get hit there. But she heard that it was the worst for men.

The Rapidash picked Lake up and started to run out the door again. Out of the corner of Lakes eyes she could see her brothers being helped up the hill. It was okay...they could make it out of the forest...right?

Something sailed over the treeline and hit the ground in front of Lake. The Rapidash hit the ground hard, launching Lake over its head and slammed into the ground hard. She cartwheeled a few feet before landing. The ringing she heard in her ears she wasn't sure what caused that, the explosion at close quarters, or even the head injury she now had. Whatever it was...she heard familiar voices close to her. She slowly looked around at her brothers as they came into view. She saw the look on Emmets face, he was in pain. She was in pain, her head was pounding. She felt Ingo turn her over and pull out a handkerchief. Putting it down on Lakes head and pressing down.

Why did that make her head stop pounding? What was going on?

"Avari!" The other Windalyn walked over and kneeled down so her master could address her properly.

"I want that helicopter." It was an order. The pokemon turned and disappeared.

The helicopter shook violently and two rocket personnel jumped out and ran screaming. Ava leaned out the door.

"Come on!" She called out.

"Brother...who do we take her to? I don't think Joy knows about ancient pokemon anatomy." Emmet said as he climbed into the helicopter. Luckily both of them knew how to fly one. It wasn't too hard...it was like riding a bike...right?

Emmet looked at the controls and then looked at Ava.

"Might want to strap in." He told her. She looked at the seat and then at him. Oh yeah that's right...she was new to this living thing. Ingo helped her put her seatbelt on as Emmet prepared the helicopter.

Emmet turned on the vehicle and closed the doors. It wouldn't take long for the idiots in the woods to realize they had escaped going the long way around and were stealing one of their helicopters.
