Chapter 30
Escape
Emmet patted Lakes back and smiled at her. Lake couldn't help, but curl into his arms. Ingo just gave that soft smile before turning to Ava.
"So if Lake is a lightning type what type are you?" Emmet asked. It would seem that the more energy Windalyn used the less drunk the twins were.
"Excuse me. Slight correction." Ava turned and pointed at Lake. "We have two types. Lake must have just learned one move, but her type is a Lightning/Fire type. I am a Dark/Ghost type." She pointed toward the outside of the building. "There's a third type I know next to zero about because they weren't in the cavern with us. But they are an Earth/Water type." That was news to them.
"That wasn't in the book."
"Book?" Ava asked, slightly stepping out of the window. Her wings gave a soft chime as she stood in thin air. Her purple eyes were incredibly bright in the dark of the night. But the moon caused her wings to glow.
"I had a book that told me about our species. It got left at the hotel." Actually a lot of their stuff was in that hotel. Including their subway jackets, and hats. They had left them inside with the intention of going back in after dinner. It was just too hot for them.
Lake suddenly smiled as she took Emmets hand as he slowly climbed out and held her close.
"Whats that smile?" Emmet asked. Lake buried her face in his chest and mumbled. "Hum?"
"At least I got to dance. I've never danced before." Emmet blushed, nodding as she was placed on the ground.
"Now be silent." Ava whispered.
Both guys stopped and cleared their throats. It was that moment in time now that they were outside under the moonlight rather than the study where they had been in the darkness.
"You are without clothing..." Ingo took off his own shirt and held it out to her. Ava looked at it and then at Ingo and then looked at herself. Her cheeks started to glow.
Lake gasped and reached up, touching Ava's cheeks. "Pretty..." The young girl smiled up at the much taller one.
"Lies..." She growled, snatching the shirt and pulled it on buttoning it up. Although, the buttons were completely off kelter
Lake backed up into Ingo after being growled at. Ingo ran his fingers over her back trying to sooth her. He could feel her sudden fear. He could understand the way she felt about this female.
The woman turned around as she rolled up the sleeves. The shirt went down to her knees. At least you couldn't see anything.
"Alright lets g..." The sound of the shirt ripping filled the air. Ava's wings went through the back. The surprised look on Ava's face made Ingo realize she didn't actually mean for that to happen.
"Its the spikes..." Wow this female was far more deadlier looking then Lake.
"So when Lakes wings come in, will they have spikes too?" Emmet ran his hands down Lakes back feeling the small bumps but that was it.
"Well of course, the only difference between me and her is color and the fact that I'm more awesome." She rolled her eyes and started to peak around the corner. Along one side was a pool. A woman wearing a soft green bathing suit sat there.
Lake looked over Ingo's shoulder at the woman and she recoiled.
"She's the one that says I'm her daughter." Ava turned and arched a brow.
"That thing?" She snorted as she looked back at the woman. "She looks like a Wailord rolled over her...and it was an improvement." Ava turned and looked at Lake. She leaned in to look Lake in the eyes.
"You're different. " Lake blushed and turned away from her.
"I'm me..." Lake felt a much smaller hand on the back of her head. Lake looked up at Ava.
"And don't let them take that from you. It's the one certainty you'll ever have." that made Lakes' heartbeat stop for a moment. Both Ingo and Emmet pulled Lake in tightly. Ava turned and looked around the corner again. "Come on...quietly. I don't want to have to kill anyone."
Lake gasped and waved her hand over the spot Ava once stood. With a plumb of smoke she disappeared.
"Ghost type..." both brothers said.
"G...Ghost?" Lake whispered and curled tighter to Ingo's embrace.
