Billy and Tilda were driving back from their shopping trip late at night. The roads were dark and the only sound that could be heard was the hum of the car engine and the occasional sound of a far-off animal in the woods.
Suddenly, out of the corner of her eye, Tilda saw something strange. It looked like a person, jaywalking across the road. She quickly slammed her foot on the brakes.
"What the heck was that?!" Billy exclaimed as she looked out the window.
Tilda shook her head. "I don't know. It looked like a person, but I'm not sure. Maybe it was a ghost?"
They sat in the car for a few moments, trying to process what they had just seen.
Suddenly, the car started to shake. Billy and Tilda held onto their seats as the shaking grew more intense.
Then, it stopped.
Billy and Tilda looked around, but whatever they had seen was gone. All that was left was the eerie silence of the night.
"Let's get out of here," Tilda said, her voice trembling.
Billy nodded in agreement and started the car.
As they drove away, they could have sworn they heard a faint laugh echoing in the night.
