George pov

I teleported up onto the surface to where I was meant to meet Ranboo. He wasn't here yet but we had agreed to wait for the other beside the river because it was where he could start teaching me about harnessing my ability to control the ground or the dirt and mud and sand is an easy target to start with.

I yawned as I sat down, twirling my fingers over the water and creating random shapes with it, the water glistening in the sunlight as it reflected tiny rainbows on the ground, making me smile.

Suddenly, I heard some shuffling in the bush opposite of the stream and my head snapped up, alert for somebody as I stood up and let go of the water, letting it fall back into the lake with a splash.

It couldn't be Ranboo since he could've just teleported here, and it couldn't be tommy either because he would have to get past me to sneak around and plus he was with Niki.

So that only leaves two options, it's either another person, or an animal. Although I wanted to believe it was an animal my instincts told me otherwise.

I stood up and started backing up as more shuffling was heard, I didn't want to engage in a fight because the only way I could outrun them is by using magic, and since we aren't allowed to show anyone outside of our clan our powers, that meant I had to kill whoever the person was, even if they were a cat. And I couldn't allow that to happen.

I turned on my heels and ran and I heard a low growl behind me and footsteps following close as I sprinted through the woods. I used my powers subtly and grew roots and vines in hopes of tripping my pursuer or blocking their vision but they were skilled and dodged everyone of them successfully.

I started to panic as I heard the footsteps slowly catching up, I assumed they were a canine since they kept growling and didn't seem to yell out for me to stop. So I jumped up and swung onto a tree branch, sneaking a glance at my pursuer before I kept leaping through the branches to try and throw them off my trail.

The hound was a brown German Shepherd with blonde hair, he was wearing a white hoodie with a chain and black jeans that had a belt hanging around it holding various weapons and traps, making my blood boil. A hunter. Hunters were people that are hired specifically for assassinations or captures of runaway pets or just felines in general. It was because of people like him that I was caught in the first place.

I hissed as I almost missed a branch, I knew I wouldn't be able to keep up my high speed much longer so I had to shake him off fast or else I would be in big trouble. He was keeping up with me on the ground, weaving through the trees as he followed me steadily.

I could feel his eyes trained on me and I looked at him for a split second before jumping sideways onto a different tree. I caught him off guard and he struggled to make a sharp turn without losing speed and I used that time to teleport away, temporarily escaping.

I couldn't teleport very far since I was tired and I had to save energy in case he finds me again. I crouched down and hid in the bushes, slowly making my way back to the direction of the river.

I hoped I had thrown him off my trail for now and I only hoped that Ranboo would come to my rescue soon.

I was all the way back at the river when I exhaled a breath of relief, sure that I had lost the shepherd and was now safe. Now that I thought back to it my blood boiled in anger at the man. I hated Hunters like him and I hated how I could only run and wait for Ranboo to come save me. I can't always rely on him so I had the sudden urge to go back and beat the crap out of him for what people like him have done.
