Chapter Fifty Five

"I want to help Eomma!" Jungkook determined after a long pause, breaking the unsettling silence present in the car.

Hearing the other's claim Taehyung scoffed, "My mom doesn't need your pity, Jungkook." His teeth were clenched tight as he couldn't help but feel annoyed. The entire ride from the hospital to their home, he narrated his pathetic family drama. And after his unexplained silence, this is what Jungkook had to say. So let's ignore his uncalled-for pettiness.

"No Taehyung! That's not what I meant. Your mother's a strong woman. I don't pity her. I just genuinely want to help her. Eomma is such a lovely and kind woman. I want to bond more with her and help her too." Jungkook expressed defensively.

Spending time with Mrs Kim in the hospital was a novel experience for him. After the initial awkward phase, Jungkook and Mrs Kim instantly became best of friends. The combination was very compatible. Mrs Kim's fun and outgoing personality on top of Jungkook's witty humour completely sidetracked Taehyung's presence. The latter couldn't help but feel jealous of his own husband for snatching his mother. When the time came for their departure, Jungkook even earned the right to call Mrs Kim Eomma.

Taehyung hummed, letting the other off the hook. He felt guilty too for snapping at his bunny for no reason. "So~ If you don't mind would you share Eomma's health records with me? I want to consult the doctors and facilities I know. Maybe we get lucky and find another alternative to help Eomma." Jungkook suggested after long contemplation.

The car came to a halt as Taehyung parked the car in their private lot. "Hmm... sure. Thank you so much for your kind thought. And I'm sorry for snapping at you earlier. That wasn't very fair of me to do so." Taehyung apologised, feeling remorseful.

Getting off the car and walking around the car to his sad puppy, Jungkook pulled the latter out of the car. "It's alright~ You look extremely hot when you get snappy. You look like an angry cute tiger cub."

Taehyung rolled his eyes but nevertheless broke into giggles and hit Jungkook's chest playfully. "Stop being cheezy, will you?" And the corridors resonated with their sweet laughs.

"Although, there's one thing I'm curious about," Jungkook muttered as the couple entered their warm abode. Removing his sneakers and switching to his in-home slippers, Taehyung asked, "Hmm? What is it?"

"Why would your Dad loathe Eomma so much? I mean Mr Kim may not be the most cheerful person but he sure is known as one the most caring businessmen in the industry. I have seen so myself. His employees always say that Mr Kim's like a strict but caring dad," Jungkook voiced with genuine wonder in his voice.

Anger filled Taehyung's veins. What does Jungkook or anyone know for them to paint his dad so positively? Influenced by his anger, Taehyung snapped, "To be frank Jungkook, I don't know neither do I want to know why. He might be the best CEO in the world but he is a shitty father. He doesn't care about me so I don't care about him either. He can very well rot in hell for all I care. He isn't the person everyone believes him to be. So stop talking like you know my dad. I haven't told you about my reasons to marry you, have I?"

Air got knocked out of Jungkook's chest. Meekily, he nodded his head no. "Well, if you wanna know~ My oh-so-caring dad struck a deal with me years ago. My mom, who is so smitten with my dad wasn't doing good. She needed serious help which she was refusing to take. In the end, I had to helplessly beg my dad to help my mom. I promised him that I'll do anything he wants if he convinces my mom otherwise. It took him only a night to do the job. I don't know what sorcery he did but the very next day my mom was all set to take the medical help that she had denied for days. Years passed and I forgot about the bargain but my dad didn't. One fine day he called me to his office and told me that I'll be marrying you. When I protested against it, he shut me off by reminding me of the deal. He literally blackmailed me, his own son to marry a complete stranger in exchange for continuing his care towards his own wife. Tell me Jungkook what kind of 'caring' person does that?"
