Chapter Nine

♪───Ｏ（≧∇≦）Ｏ────♪

CRACK! That's the sound of all of Taehyung's hopes shattering. Not to lie but Taehyung was indeed developing a little crush on the sweet and hot guy. But it is what is right, Taehyung thought.

"Oh?" Taehyung let out in shock. Jungkook kept his silence letting the guy process the overwhelming information.

After a few seconds Taehyung spoke again, "Hmm... alright then. It was good knowing you Jungkook." Taehyung spoke suppressing the little ache in his heart. He got up to leave. I mean what's the point of even staying? Isn't that why Jungkook called him, to indirectly reject the proposal. It's good in a way, Taehyung thought. He won't have to get into an arranged marriage and his father won't give him a hard time because it is Jungkook who rejected the proposal not him. Taehyung looked at the silver lining in an attempt to stay positive about the situation. Oh boy, how wrong was he.

Taehyung felt a firm grip on his wrist, holding him from moving forward. Taehyung looked down to see Jungkook gripping him tight and looking at him in shock, "What?" Jungkook muttered in shock.

"Well, aren't you indirectly rejecting the marriage proposal? It's actually no problem. It's good in a way but you are going to tell your Grandpa that YOU rejected the proposal. Right? Also, you didn't have to bring me to a club to tell me this, a cafe or coffee shop would have been just fine." Taehyung laughed at the absurdity of Jungkook's place of choice to reject him.

"No that's not what I meant," Jungkook replied with a sigh still holding Taehyung in his place.

"Huh?" Taehyung doesn't understand, his wide eyes looked at Jungkook questionably. He totally resembled a puppy. Jungkook would have laughed if not for the seriousness of the situation.

"I'll explain... but can you sit down. You are kinda tall so it's hurting my neck to look up so high." Jungkook spoke before breaking the eye contact and cracking his neck to release the strain. "Oh, I'm sorry~" Taehyung apologised before he sat back in his previous place. Even after sitting down, Jungkook didn't let go of Taehyung's hand, too afraid of him walking away again.

"Hmm... so the relationship of me and my girlfriend is kinda a secret. She is a high-profile idol so she can't reveal her private relationship, it's against the label's contract. And it is a strong contract so we can't really challenge it in court. My Grandpa is always worried for me because he thinks I'm single for eternity when I'm clearly not. I've told him several times that I do have a girlfriend but he doesn't believe me and asks for proof which I can't provide..." Jungkook took in a deep breath, looking at Taehyung's eyes which were telling him to go on.

"The day you brought Grandpa to the ER we got to know that he has... a tumour." Jungkook saw Taehyung's eyes widen but he still didn't say anything letting Jungkook continue his explanation. In his heart, Jungkook thanked Taehyung to be such a patient listener.

He continued, "after consulting the numerous physicians, we are afraid that he might not have long to live..." His voice choked up at that. Jungkook felt Taehyung squeezing their clubbed hands to comfort him. "He wants to see me get settled with someone. He chose you as that someone because he found you nice and sweet." Jungkook spoke about Taehyung with a smile. He saw Taehyung blush at his Grandpa's compliments for himself.

"One day he came to my house and told me that I have to marry you. When I told him yet again that I do have a girlfriend he told me to either bring her to meet him or consider marrying you. I talked with my girlfriend about this. Unfortunately, she isn't willing to meet my Grandpa and promise him anything. She is afraid that her coming out with me would jeopardise her and her bandmates' hard work, which I understand. So we broke up for a week but then we got back together because we missed each other too much." Jungkook spoke heavy. "I can't really tell my Grandpa that I don't wanna marry. He had such hopeful eyes. I want to fulfil his only wish. I don't know when he would again ask for anything from me. I lost my parents at a very young age. He was the one who brought me and my brother up. He took the place of both of our parents so I can't really do that to him. I know he won't force me if I say I don't want to marry. But I know he won't be happy and peaceful either." A tear escaped his eyes as he talked about his Grandpa.
