"Your mother and I were never meant to be together. Would you even believe that my people was the reason why she is the only white sorceress from earth who are left. She and I had a very tough beginning. When we first met, she hates me that it makes her skin crawl just by seeing my face." Trevor stated and it felt sour because it wasn't a very good memory whenever he goes back to that.
It was so hard for him to endure all the blames and spites whenever he and Coleen stays in one place.
"M-mom never told me that. What happened?' Caspian asked. Coleen's always telling him a lot of stories about sorcerers. But she never mentioned how she met Trevor other than the love letters they leave for each other on the tree.
"My kind massacred her people. She was the only one to escape and you can only imagine how much the good folks hated us for almost putting their race into extinction." Trevor explained to him and Caspian's reaction were speechless.
It made him amazed at how Trevor was able to handle all of that. All the blames and hate. Caspian could never imagine if he can even receive such kind of hate from an entire race.
"But... h-how did you and mom got together? Is it not because of the letters?" He asked and Trevor smiled, beckoning his son to follow him to somewhere quieter.
When they got to the greenhouse, Trevor told him the original story of how their love story started to bloom. How they became each other's forbidden truth.
Caspian could not describe how much respect he have for his father now after hearing the real story. And he could not blame his mother because he would've wanted her to still act the same because all that happened is what made their relationship even stronger.
"But... you two already love each other from the beginning. I'm not even sure what Kamal feels about me. He probably just see me as his cousin or a brother." Caspian suddenly started mumbling as he walks back in forth to release his frustration.
"He'll probably just think I'm pranking him if I tell him I like him. He sees me like the one crossing even dangerous length just to pull a mega trick! He'll never believe me if I tell him I like him!" He said again and Trevor could definitely sense all the build up worries and pressure.
Caspian must've liked Kamal for a long time and has been bottling it up because he doesn't know how he can tell Kamal without making it seem like a joke.
"Trick and truth is entirely different Caspian. You two know each other so well that you'll be able to tell which one is lying. As long as you sincere when you admit how you feel, he'll know that you're telling the truth."
"So what!? Even if I tell him there's no guarantee he'll like me back! You said so yourself. It could ruin our friendship! And even if he likes me, his parents will never agree to it because of their duty for their race!"
"You and mom may have been able to disregard it because you are so brave! But I know Kamal! He will never disobey his parents!"
"Are you really that stupid or just a coward! Look at their family Caspian! Yvel is a moon goddess!!!" Trevor raised his voice just so Caspian would stop procastinating.
"Kitsch had the same duty. But he loves Yvel and he took the risk for her. He didn't know either if she feels the same but he still took the risk!
"You are my son! And as your father I'm telling you to get your sh*t together and don't be a coward!"
"Kitsch and Yvel would never hold you back if you two like each other. You're still young and have a long way to go. It's not wrong for you to fall for someone and that's something we can't control. Not even our duty."
"But... Kamal always wanted to make his father proud... H-he told me that he'll become a dragon that uncle Kitsch will be proud of. And provide him a pureblood heir. There are a lot of dragons here now and I meant Aunt Sapphire and Uncle Lord's daughter. She's also dragon and would turn 18 next year. Aunt Yvel really like her too."
Trevor could feel somethinf break inside him. It was the first time he saw his son cry. He's never seen Caspian shed a single tear before and he felt honored to see that because it made him feel closer to his son.
Caspian is right though. Lord and Sapphire's daughter is also a dragon, her name is Alexa. And many people had always deemed Kamal to be bethrothed to her.
"You really like him, don't you?" Trevor suddenly said the words out loud and Caspian threw a glare at him before wiping away his tears.
"Maybe I'd rather not tell him. I mean it's already weird enough that I like guys." He said and was about to leave the greenhouse but stopped after he heard what Trevor said last.
"Yalex used to be my mate..."
Caspian turned to his father with a completely surprised face. He observed Trevor's expression but it was unreadable.
"H-how?" He asked.
Arcadians have no memory of Gammon. They do not know nor remember who he is to them. Not even Jessi, Acrox or Mako. Only the ten primes.
So it's no question why Caspian was never told that Yalex was Trevor's first mate because of the mark he got from the demon which had helped him to stay hidden from his father.
He only knows that Sapphire and Trevor are both half demon and that they never met their dad because he was exiled for having an offspring.
Kamal and Caspian had asked a lot about the story of the primes and they were told about the new story which had been fabricated and without any Gammon included.
Nobody truly remembers the real story of the primes from the very beginning of how they really started as a group of ten.
No one remembers all the sufferings that Blue went through before he met Rhian. How many times he had lost his emotions.
All the blames and pain that Trevor endured for being born with Yalex souls and being his mate. To be on the brink of death almost every day of his life.
The pressure that Kitsch and Yvel felt for falling in love to someone they shouldn't.
The pressure for Samuel to lead their group and making sure that they'll be able to do as the mission. The pain and great deal of responsibility he had to be burdened.
Or even when half of the primes died and those who were left behind had suffered greatly for it.
Nobody remembers it all now except for the primes alone.
Trevor had never thought of bringing the topic before.
But he figured he should and at least leave out the part where he is blood related to the demon. Just so he can help Caspian understand how important it is to be honest to his own self in order to not suffer the consequences of regret and resentment.
"Didn't you ever wonder why Blue can touch you but he can't on me?"
