Snape was standing in my room.

Snape was standing in my room pointing his wand at me.

He looked as though he didn't believe what he saw.

Me.

It was as much a shock to me as it was to him.

We both stood in silent disbelief of one another.

Then I could see his mind processing it.

I watched him seemingly go through the first stage of grief.

The frown of denial—that he wasn't truly seeing what was in front of him.

Lucius apparated into my room mere seconds later—right in front of me so that i was shielded from Snape.

Lucius's arm slightly shot out in response to my move to peer around him.

"You fool," Snape said in anger—he'd moved to the second stage it seemed.

Lucius did not have his wand out—just his cane in one hand—appearing calm and confident. Though Snape was still pointing his—but the target now being Lucius.

"Well well—I'm most surprised to see you here Severus," Lucius said with distaste.

"You're explanations of past events raised suspicion—then your lack of progress in hunting her down in addition to those obscure progress reports. It's slightly hard to believe you—with your magical abilities and decades experience— be outsmarted by some... girl," Snape said.

"Really? I'd find such an excuse completely believable—our lord being outmatched by a mere baby not so long ago," he'd said sarcastically.

"This is no joking matter Lucius."

"Do I look as though I'm jesting?" he said without humor.

I tried to come out from behind Lucius as I said, "Can someone please explain—"

"Be quiet," Lucius demanded quickly, pulling me by the arm back behind him.

Usually I would fight back but it was something in his tone—a hint of...fear?

For the first time ever, I didn't fight him.

Still it didn't last long.

Lucius apparated us both. I was now pushed against the wall. Between the wall and his back as he shielded me.

This seemed like overkill so I tried to push him off me— to no avail. He paid no mind.

Was my potions professor and head of my house really such a threat to me?

I craned my neck to see half of Snape's face.

"I knew you were up to something, but this. You've been hiding her this whole time? A spy—" Snape didn't finish as Lucius interrupted.

"We were wrong. She was never a spy for her father."

Now I was confused and Snape seemed to be taking in the information.

They thought I was a spy for my father? Why would a fellow death eater spy on another death eater?

"How can you be sure?" Snape questioned.

"I've confirmed. Which is why I wished you would have waited before you'd carelessly offered information up to make her look like a traitor to the death eaters...to discredit her."

"Well regardless—she's a liability no matter her role or lack thereof. And if the dark lord finds out you are hiding her, he will kill you Lucius."
