Intervene

Back on the tropical island Sonic's team called home, Tails was scurrying back to his workshop as quickly as his feet could take him, his ability to fly completely forgotten as his mind swirled the insane possibility that his brother, whom he knew hated responsibility, could conceive a child. Not to add that the father would be someone as distant and mysterious as Shadow, if something were to go wrong, would he abandon Sonic? His love seemed genuine, but Tails had to keep Sonics well-being front and centre.
Right now that well-being was figuring out how to reverse the effects of Gerald Robotniks serum, tearing apart the formula and rebuilding to correct the corruption of nature.
As Tails bolted through his open garage door, he sped past Amy without even realizing she was standing there. She took offence to this and was about to promptly give Tails a life lesson about being aware of your surroundings, but shut her mouth when Tails began to rant to himself about something she didn't quite understand.
"G-1 compound? What even is that?" The orange fox rifled through the papers given to him by Eggman, ripping through them at incredible speed, "this was mined to extinction decades ago! Where would I even get some?" He booted up his self-made computer, "numbing agent? Is that why Sonic couldn't feel anything?"
At the mention of Sonic, Amy made herself known, for as far as she cared, if it concerned Sonic it concerned the rest of them.
"Couldn't feel what?" She stomped beside Tails and glanced at the pile of documents, but Tails was quick to react and scattered them, wind sending them flying around the room.
"Amy! Don't you knock?"
Amy guffawed, "don't you shut your doors? What is all this? What's wrong with Sonic? Does it have to do with earlier? Is Eggman doing something to him?!"
Tails went as red as he could go beneath the fur, "uh- um, no I- I can't tell you."
"Like hell you can't!"
"He's not in danger!" Tails raised his hand to slow Amy down, "he's fine! There's just, ugh- you have to get it from him I really can't tell anyone."
Amy paused, digesting the situation and trying to read Tails' expression, which resembled confusion mixed with terror.
"Fine, where is he?"
Tails shrugged, Sonic and Shadow could easily still be at his hut, but with Shadow's chaos control, they could really be anywhere. Plus, he truly didn't want Amy to interlude.
He could imagine it now, her rushing to Sonics side and teaching him everything about his new body in excruciating and disgusting detail. She probably wouldn't let Shadow anywhere near him- wait.. she wouldn't let Shadow anywhere near him!
Tails' ears perked at the idea. If Shadow couldn't touch Sonic, there would be no way to inseminate him, giving Tails plenty of time to figure out a solution.
"He hasn't been wearing his communicator.. but I'm sure he's with Shadow."
Amy shook her head and looked at the papers sprawled across the floor, "Tails, why don't you just tell me? If he's not in danger then I don't see how there could be a problem."
Tails gulped, he had to keep the couple separated, they couldn't be trusted on their own, but in telling Amy, he would be revealing a large secret.
He clenched his eyes and opened his mouth.

From outside the little workshop, Knuckles sat with Stix chatting about the possibility of rocks stealing shoes while people slept, waiting for Amy to return, when they a heard an earth shaking scream.
"WHAT!!!"
Stix jumped up and readied her fists as Amy came sprinting out of the workshop towards Knuckles.
"Where are they? I'll get them!"
Any ignored Stix and pointed her finger at the echidna, "call Rouge, right now."
Knuckles crinkled his face, "why? I don't have her number.."
"Oh shove it, everyone knows."
She grabbed his wrist and tapped at the communicator.
"What do you need her for?"
Amy furrowed her brow, "I need to get to Shadow, and if there's anyone who knows where he is, it's her. She knows where everyone is all the time."
Knuckles and Stix didn't bother asking anymore questions, they knew when Amy had a goal, there was no point.
A ringing echoed the air as the three of them waited for an answer, it didn't take long for Rouge's voice to echo the air, "hiya handsome, what can I do you for?" Knuckles smiled shyly.
"It's Amy. Can you find Shadow?"
"Oh hey, what's up doll?"
"Yeah hi, sorry I'm in a rush, can you find Shadow?"
Rouge chuckled on the other end, "I'll do you one better, he's here now, why don't you say hi to the lady, cranky?"
