After saving Midoriya from the scolding I lightly shoved him away. "You should start home before Bakugo catches up. And...don't let anyone tell you what you did was wrong." I turned around to go find the nearest convenience store for medical supplies.

"Wait! Why did you stop talking to me? Why did we stop being friends?!" He yelled after me.

I stoped walking but didn't turn to face him. "Because you deserve better friends than me, Midoriya-kun." I looked over my shoulder. His eyes were wet and shining brightly in the sun. I let out a breath and turned to face him. "Truth is, I was using you. Not at first you see. At first I really just wanted to make friends with you. You're smart and sweet and...I just wanted to be your friend. I wanted to be friends with you and Bakugo. Bakugo didn't like that... do you remember the green haired man who would walk me home? He was my best friend in the whole wide world but he had to leave or he would've hurt a lot of people. After that I became your friend because every time I see you I'm reminded of him and it made me feel guilty. We stopped talking because I realized I had no right to use you like that." I moved to turn back around again.

"But you protected me! Again and again when Kaachan would use his quirk on me. Why?"

I sighed, anyone who sees us would think this is a confession. "Because we aren't four years old anymore! Your precious kaachan shouldn't use his quirk to hurt you!" I shook my head and spoke normally. "Bakugo just shouldn't bully you."

I walked off and turned the corner where Bakugo stood. I shoved my injured shoulder into him as I passed. "If you keep this up you'll lose him and I'll be the one there to tell you congratulations."

I walked away and stopped at a connivence store to buy a popsicle and some bandages. I walked out again and made my way back to the scene of the incident. I wanted to see if they would call cementoss to the scene.

I leaned against one of the building nearby and was startled when someone knocked on the building beside my head.

"Detective Tsukauchi!" I stood straighter.

"Hey kid." He peaked into the bag. "Bandages? Huh. I want you to be truthful with me kid, were you involved in the slime villain incident."

"Yes" truth.

"Are you injured?"

I sighed and pulled the pop sickle out my mouth. "If you asked me twenty minutes from now I'd say no."

"Show me or I call your father, kid."

"Oooh such a cradle robber." I said teasingly. Tsukauchi blushed loudly and I laughed. "Just teasin detective." I slipped my book bag off and began unbuttoning my blazer and shirt until I was left in my tank top. It left my scars on both shoulders and my neck more visible. The detective gulped and I frowned. "They're disgusting, I know." I said sadly.

"No no! They aren't. There's just so many." He reached out to touch the one from Bakugo and I pulled back and joked to play off how tense I was.

"You have to take me on a second date before we're ever that close, detective." I pulled my shirt back on and buttoned it up swiftly. "It will heal soon the bandages were just in case it didn't stop bleeding."

"Your much happier than you were an hour ago?"

I smiled this time sincerely. "I took your quirk to heart. I stopped lying and I told the truth. Not the whole truth, but my truth. I feel much happier, almost like the old me, it's freeing."

He leaned against the wall beside me. "What are you waiting for?"

"I wanted to see if they would call cementoss. He's in my top ten hero's." I said proudly. "He's also the literature teacher for U.A. And I wanted to ask if he could recommend me a couple books."

"Books?"

"Just because he isn't here to read with me doesn't mean I stopped reading. I did for a while but reading brings me back to him. It helps me heal. And someday I'll summon him back and I'll tell him all the books I've read." I said softly.

"There you go again...your really really like him." Tsukauchi ruffled my hair and I stomped my foot.

"Do not. I mean I do but." I shook my head and went back to eating my popsicle.

Tsukauchi chuckled in amusement.

We waited awhile until cementoss showed up. I had long finished my popsicle and was watching the hero use his quirk with rapt attention. It was awesome how he could just build anything.

When he was about to leave I pushed off the wall and grabbed my shoulder bag and the other bag and grabbed Tsukauchi's coat sleeve, pulling him with me.

"Cementoss-San!" I called out and he stopped and turned towards us. "Um Cementoss-San I was wondering if you would recommend some books to me?"

"Books?"

"Well yeah! You're the literature teacher for U.A. and I'm training to apply this year. But the point is that to be the literature teacher of such a prestigious school you must be very well educated and I wanted you to recommend some books to read over the summer." I flushed lightly at my stupid rambling.

"Oh I'd be happy too!" It was his turn to be flustered as his grey face got a little darker. He began to rattle off books and I jotted them down in my school notebook I had pulled out.

We were turning to leave and Tsukauchi called out "cementoss your one of her top ten favorite heroes."

I flushed and almost dropped my notebook.

"Tsukauchi!!" I whined.

"Thank you and I hope you make it in this upcoming year." Cementoss said and walked away.

The rest of 9th grade passed away somewhat calmly. Bakugo stopped bullying Midoriya and Midoriya was constantly training in class.

I had little to no interaction with either of them during that time.

I took to the books like a fish to water. I was overjoyed to find that some of them were American books and I was all the more enthused to read them.

I spent the summer training for the exams and reading the books and time seemed to slip away.

Before I knew it the exam was tomorrow.
