It's never felt this wonderful, Jennie thinks.

Curled on a warm chest ㅡ two arms tight around her body and a pair of legs tangled with hers ㅡ Jennie realizes that she's never felt this happy before. This content.

Lisa's fingers are gentle as they card through Jennie's disheveled, sweaty hair. Lips even more gentle as they occasionally press kisses to the top of her head.

"Thank you," Jennie whispers suddenly, breaking the comfortable, post-bliss silence. The tips of her fingers gently draw shapes and circles into the soft and smooth skin of Lisa's collarbones.

"For what, darling?" The Snake Charmer asks, tilting Jennie's head up with a hand across her jaw; lips lingering across her forehead and the space between Jennie's eyebrows.

"For... For everything tonight. No one has ever..." she trails off, not sure if she should say whats she was going to.

But Lisa makes the decision for her.

"No one has ever what?" She doesn't sound judging, or like she's upset that Jennie is suddenly about to bring up other people after their first time together. Just curious; genuinely.

Jennie exhales a shaky breath.

"No one has ever treated me this way before. Like I'm something to be treasured. Like I'm special."

There it is. The secret ㅡ if you can call it that ㅡ is out. And Jennie finds herself curling closer and pressing her lips to the skin that stretches right over Lisa's heart.

"I'm sorry," Jennie blinks, immediately twisting her head to look up at her snake and inquire, but Lisa is pressing her lips to the bridge of her nose in a gentle kiss, "I'm sorry that there were people who didn't know how to treat you. I'm sorry it took me so long to find you and show you exactly how wondrous you are."

Jennie's eyes well with tears.

Lisa is ridiculous.

No, really.

Jennie has never been so in love with anyone ever before. It burns ㅡ this love that fills up her lungs like water in an ocean. Circles her like a dark cloud before the Storm of the Century.

And perhaps, Lisa is that storm; ready to break her down and build her back up immediately after. Better than before. Make her shine.

Or maybe just help her find her true inner light.

Jennie wants to tell her. What she feels. How much this woman means to her. The words are brimming over her lips; burning her tongue and knocking against her teeth.

Let us out, they scream, tell her how in love you are.

Instead, Jennie says,

"You're so ridiculous."

Lisa still smiles at her all the same. Still trails her fingers across her shoulders and down her arm. Still kisses her with all the feelings in the world. Still takes her breath away and makes her heart thrash and pound in her chest like a wild animal that's finally been let loose after years of being trapped inside of a gilded cage.

"Possibly." Lisa whispers back against her lips.

Jennie's chest sings.

I love you I love you I love you I love you I love you I love you I love you I love you I love you I love you I love you I love you I love you I love you I love you I love you I love you I love you I love you I love youI love you I love you I love you.

And so, the Dove fell deeply in love with the Snake Charmer.

And so, the Snake Charmer fell just as deeply in love with the Dove.

"I love you."

"I love you too."

In that moment, Jennie felt her world stop, the only sound being the rhythmic beating of her heart, echoing the sincerity of her confession.

"I love you. Most ardently." Lisa repeated softly, her voice a soothing balm to Jennie's anxious heart. Jennie's eyes sparkled with joy at the words.

"In truth, my darling, I love you with a depth that defies words," Lisa murmured, her voice laden with heartfelt emotion. "You are the brightest star in my sky, the only truly good thing in my life." Her expression softened into a tender smile, eyes shimmering with affection. "So, let’s abandon the world for a while and lose ourselves in each other’s arms, kissing and cuddling the night away, shall we?"

Jennie felt her heart swell with a mixture of love and relief. What else could she do in this moment but kiss the woman who had become her everything? With the biggest smile lighting up her face, she leaned forward and pressed her lips to Lisa's, sealing their love with a kiss that spoke volumes more than any words could convey.

At that very moment, the sky over Gotham City was illuminated by an inky black expanse ㅡ that reminds her of Lisa's eyes ㅡ adorned with a golden moon that cast its ethereal glow through the bedroom window. The scene was painted with perfect serenity, a silent witness to their love. There could not have been a more perfect moment than this. Jennie realized that Lisa was not just her lover, but her home, her safe haven.

And soon, The Snake Den becomes blue.
