William Byers, more commonly known as Will Byers, was always different from people his age.  But then again, so were all his friends.

Growing up, he always knew he was different.  In fact, his dad often taunted him with this when he didn't feel like physically abusing him.  He was aware he was different.  So when he realized he didn't like girls and liked guys, it didn't come as a huge surprise to him.  What did surprise him, was that he was in love with his best friend, Michael Wheeler, more commonly known as Mike Wheeler.

Mike was one of four original party members.  Himself being the Paladin, Will the Cleric, Lucas Sinclair the Ranger, and Dustin Henderson the Bard.  Of course, as the group grew up they made new friends.  Well somewhat girlfriends.  Maxine Mayfield, more commonly known as Max Mayfield, was a made-up zoomer of the group.  And Eleven/Jane Hopper, most commonly known as El, was the Mage.

Although to some people they may seem like a 'normal' group of friends, they each had secrets that would destroy everything if they were to be revealed.

When Will was taken into the upside-down years ago, he knew it would never be over.  He prayed that when him and his family moved to California that things would change, but they didn't.

His family consists of himself, his older brother Jonathan Byers, his mother Joyce Byers, technically El since they thought her adoptive dad died.  He didn't really die, they only thought he did.  The whole situation is very confusing, Will couldn't even explain it.  Oh, and Lonnie Byers, but he was out of the picture due to him being abusive and a narcissist.

They moved to California for a fresh start but that of course didn't last long.

Once they got to Highschool they dealt with bullies of every kind.  Being from a small town and moving to a very popular area definitely has its disadvantages.

On top of that, Will tried to push his feelings for Mike away.  At this time he was dating El and Will loved both of them and wouldn't want to ruin their relationship.

Will tried his best to be there for El.  They had a lot of the same trauma, so they understood each other more then anyone else would understand them.

He was also trying to be there for his mother, trying his hardest to help her out with cooking and cleaning and keeping the house together while she was working.  Jonathan was always high or stoned to be paying attention to anyone or anything so his responsibilities fell back onto Will.

He was stressed.  Really stressed.  But the good part?  He never had time to talk to Mike.  His plan was to not reach out and see how much Mike reached out to him, which wasn't often.  He was glad for this.  The more him and Mike didn't talk, the less feelings he had for him.

This plan was working very well.

Until spring break.

Then everything kind of blew up.

Literally.
