Heavens pov
Today is Friday, which is the first game of the football season. Although I don't care about football, I do care about how the routine will turn out. Despite my boyfriend being on the team, I don't care really about all of that. I only care about making myself and the girls look good.
Currently, it's after school as we prepare our routine, and of course, I couldn't keep my eyes off Valentina. I didn't mean to almost kiss her at my house. It was more of a...instinct kind of thing.
I missed my boyfriend and I was pretty high, so that's why I almost kissed her. I could never like girls, it's just not my thing. I'm not homophobic either, but in this world liking the same sex is...you're disowned by everyone else. I know I shouldn't care about what other people think, yet I do and I always will.
Also, being captain of the cheer team I have to be perfect. If not, then I'm just a failure and what's the point of that?
"Girls, this is your first-ever performance and you guys are screwing things up. Stop getting distracted and do the routine right." Coach Sanders says in a pissed tone.
I stand here next to Valentina who looks at Coach Sanders trying to have the courage to say something. She averts her eyes to Gina. She looks exhausted and her sweaty forehead dripping on the floor. Finally, Valentina speaks up crossing her arms in seriousness.
"Listen, Coach, what you're doing to the girls isn't fair and you know it. You're letting them do the routine multiple times when you see that they're tired from doing it 10 times already...."
"Also, you're letting Heaven and I stand here like we aren't part of the team watching the girls work their ass off with this routine. Please, I ask you to be fair and balanced in this situation. The girls are doing fine, I get it you're under pure stress, however by doing this, it's making the situation worse. Do you not see the girls struggling right now?" Valentina says, looking at Coach Sanders.
I look at Coach Sanders and she looks straight at Valentina and bites the inside of her cheek. All she does is nod though, no words come out.
What the fuck? She just nods after Valentina says all that.
"Okay. I'm sorry for being a horrible coach right now. Heaven and Valentina please join in on the routine, then you guys can take a 20-minute break. I want all of you here by those 20 minutes." Coach Sanders says, walking away on her heel to her office.
"We'll do the routine later, just take a break." Valentina speaks, and the girls cheer a, "yes".
How dare she give them orders when that's my job! I'm the one to enforce orders, instead, she's trying to take my place.
"Why did you do that? I want them to do the routine with us, they're slacking off." I say slightly angry.
"They're already tired, just let them take a break. Stop being annoying." She rolls her eyes, clearly annoyed by my words. I don't care though, I continue talking.
"We're slacking off, if we want to be good then we have to continue practicing. You're going to make us blow it."
Valentina scoffs before saying, "Then you do the routine 10 times like they did, and see if you're tired like them. You know it isn't fair, yet you're being an asshole about it."
I clench my fists in anger. I typically don't get angry easily, but still, for some reason, it's been getting worse around her, or perhaps— around people in general.
"Shut up," I say in a serious tone, causing her to roll her eyes and refrain her eyes away from me.
What a fucking brat.
