Valentina's pov
There is not a single thought that runs in this boy's head. Not one!
Jay, is just a typical guy that always thinks he's entitled to everything. As I'm walking to meet up with Gina, he stands beside me with his shoulders cocked like he owns the school. Even right now, he's looking at me like I'm his girlfriend, even though I'm not. I would never be. He's a good friend, but that's all I want to be. Friends.
Anyways, after Detective Martinez told me that he's throughly investigating who's threatening me, I felt a sense of relief wash over me. At least I know somebody cares about me!
"Hey Val!" Gina calls, and immediately I signal her with my eyes to help me from the boy that is next to me. She looks at him with a disgusted look, and finally speaks up.
"Sorry Jay, I need to steal Valentina, we have a girl emergency." Gina says, sending Jay a stern look, before grabbing my wrist and pulling me away.
"Thank you." I say with a sigh of relief, and grateful that she pulled me away from Jay. Gina nods, and grabs her lipgloss out of her backpack before applying it on her lips.
"So what happened with Detective Martinez?" Gina questions, looking at me through the mirror that she's facing.
"He just talked to me about the threats, mostly about how he's going to start an investigation right away." I reply, and lean my back against the wall.
"I'm glad someone in this forsaken town has taken some kind of action towards this," Gina speaks with a hint of annoyance. She turns away and looks at me before speaking again.
"You know, it's hard to trust cops these days."
"Yeah I know, but I trust him. He's the only one willing to help me, plus I doubt he would do me dirty considering Heaven is his niece." I reply honestly, and Gina nods agreeing with me.
The bell rings signaling that first period just started, meaning we have to head to class which is something I hate. I like my first period though, so I'm not entirely mad about it.
"What are you doing for your birthday?" Gina asks. Honestly I haven't even thought about it, but maybe I'll just have a cake and invite Gina over.
"I have no idea." I state, Gina smirks and I shake my head knowing what she's thinking.
"No. I'm not having a party," I say in a serious tone, as I walk inside my first period class. Gina quivers her lip like a baby, which makes me shake my head.
She's such a baby sometimes.
"My answer is final." I finish, and walk inside my English class, and there sits Heaven in front of my desk.
If she hates me... why does she sit near me? That doesn't make sense. Is she just trying to annoy me?
"Okay, I won't pressure to having one, butttt can you at least have the cheer girls over? I think it would be fun." She asks, hoping I would say yes. Heaven from her desk, looks up from her phone, and looks at Gina confused.
"What?" Gina questions, looking directly at Heaven who's looking at her.
"Invite the cheer girls where?" Is all she says, with one of her eyebrows raised.
"Noisy much?"
I laugh at Gina's remark, which makes Heaven turn around to look at me with her serious face.
"Is someone going to tell me what's going on?" Heaven asks, with her arms crossed.
As I was going to talk, the tardy bell rings. I guess I would have to tell her later at cheer practice.
———————-
"Hi Valentina." I hear a voice behind me, as I'm putting lip gloss on in the locker room.
I turn around and see Coach Sanders standing beside one of the lockers. She's wearing her usual attire, which are gym shorts and a muscle shirt. I don't think I've ever seen her wear anything else besides those clothes.
"Hi, Coach." I smile, and close my locker as I finish getting ready. I look over to Coach Sanders, and she looks a bit nervous, but I brush it off to let her talk.
"So listen... I know I should've told you this before, but I just want to make sure you're okay with me dating your mom," Coach Sanders adds with a soft tone in her voice.
Why does she think I'm not okay with it? Did I say something? Did I do something to make her seem that?
"Of course I'm okay with it Coach, you seem like a good person, from what I've seen obviously, but yeah I'm fine with it," I say, but before I let her speak again, I talk once more.
"However, I don't want you to favorite me. Yes I'm the daughter of your girlfriend or whatever, but I don't want you to treat me any less. Treat me the same as everyone else."
Coach Sanders smiles at my comment, and extends her arms, gesturing for a hug. I give in and hug her. This hug doesn't seem awkward or weird, it feels genuine which is what I like.
After what seemed like an hour, she pulls away and blows her whistle making me flinch in fear, but not in a bad way. I was just caught off guard.
"What the hell?" I curse, still covering my ears with my hands.
She laughs and points with her leg towards the door, assuming she wants me to get out.
"What the actual hell is wrong with you? You almost blew my eardrums out." I wince, as my ears are still ringing. She really blew that whistle next to my ear.
"Sorry kiddo, just had to do it to you." She snickers like a child, and walks behind me as we head to the gym.
I walk towards the direction of the cheer girls, with one hand holding my ear. Gina looks at me confused and I just give her a look that I'll tell her later. I love that we have looks for different occasions. We have a look where Gina and I look at each other and it's like our minds know exactly what we're both thinking. It's crazy.
"Hi girls, today there isn't going to be much to practice on today, but I did want to call upon this meeting to invite every single one of you guys to my birthday party that I'm hosting tomorrow night. If you can make it, thank you, if you can't, still thank you for considering. Everyone is invited, but please don't bring other people it's just going to be a cheer thing," I finish, and look at the girls who are now smiling and chatting upon eachother asking what they're going to wear and what time it starts.
"Am I invited?" I hear a familiar voice behind me, and I roll my eyes knowing it's Heaven.
"Of course dummy, you're captain of the cheer team. It would just be rude not to invite you."
"Hm, I expected you to say that I'm also your friend, but I guess that'll work." Heaven shrugs, which makes me confused.
So, Heaven completely ignores me and doesn't talk to me for days, then talks to me again, then ignores me, and now she wants to consider me a friend? I'm hustling trying to understand.
"So you're my friend now?" I ask confused, but Heaven just looks at me like I'm stupid or something.
"We're not?" Heaven asks, and holds her chest sarcastically as if she was hurt by what I said.
"I thought you hated me?" I raise my eyebrows.
"I don't hate you."
"Really, then why are you a bitch to me?"
"I'm a bitch to everyone,"
Heaven gets closer to me next to my ear so I can hear properly what she's going to say.
"But for you, I have a soft spot for."
Omg, I haven't uploaded in 3 months! I'm so sorry to keep you guys waiting, but I really had a lot of things going on, and I had to handle it mentally. I'm sorry again, but I'm back!!!!
