"Look it's Kat," they whispered, pointing at me as I walked home, "look how much taller he's gotten, those muscles though, when did he get so ripped?" Summer training away from the pack may have done me some good with my looks, but everyone still called me Kat. "I heard he ran away with a human boy, such a disgrace to his family, doesnt he know his whole purpose is to make cubs with the ladies?" I really hated that statement but right now I have better things to do than yell at idiots. I left during the summer because I was sick and tired of how toxic the pack was and my only friend in the world needed me but now I was seriously reconsidering coming back.

I made it to the hut my mom lived in and sighed "Im home-"

"Where the hell have you been huh brat? I could've used your help" Her breath smelled worse than rotting scraps of meat that littered the place, she was drunk again.

I sighed and tried to make her sit down, which wsdnt easy since she was twice as heavy as me. "I needed to get away from everyone okay? I needed time to be myself"

"Your father used to say the same thing, and look where he is now. Gone. Never gave a damn about you or me"

**Smack.**

I didnt realize I slapped her until I was yelling. "Dont you *ever* say that again! I dont blame him for leaving you at all!! You're a horrible mother and all you care about is yourself!" I was pissed, I just came home after months of not being here and she goes right back into her 'oh I had a raise a child on my own, poor pitiful me' act. It sickens me honestly when all she ever worries about it her looks and what alpha men in our pack would give her a good time.

"What the hell kid!? Where's your manners, you know better than to hit me!!" I didnt care anymore, I was done with this place, and this pack so I just left the tent with a bag of my stuff and headed out of the makeshift village the pack had. A few girls tried to get in my way, I could tell they were wanting a peice of me.

'Disgusting honestly, is everyone here just hungry for sex or something?' I pushed them off and kept going, originally planning to head back to the humans house I had stayed at, but thought about how I've never met my father and made up my mind to find him. Surely that wouldn't be too hard? I headed into the forest and never looked back.

The sun had set and I left the cold wooden coffin I spent the day in, yawning as I looked through my clothes for something decent to wear that wasnt too flashy, settling on a pair of black riding pants and a soft blue silk shirt with a darker blue vest and undershirt.

The castle was surprisingly quiet as I made my way upstairs for what would be breakfast. I found my sister already eating a strawberry tart with a glass of fresh blood, she smiled at me and I just nodded back, noticing my father watching my every move.

"Shoto you're up early" He was sitting at the head of table where he had one of his many thrones, eating the same strawberry tarts as my sister, his goblet of blood being filled for probably the fifth time by one of the human servants.

"On the contrary, it's already dark outside, I'd say im up quite late." This earned a small giggle from Fuyumi as I sat beside her, though our father was not impressed with my joke.

"You're the future king of the entire vampire race, I wish you would learn how to take such a responsibility seriously!!" He startled the servant, who spilled fresh blood all over the floor and himself. I could tell he wasnt going to last long.

After breakfast, I left to leave the castle, getting stopped by several gaurds as they had apparently been ordered to keep me in for the night. I just huffed as my attempts for freedom failed and went to my room, it wasnt anything too fancy considering most of fathers wealth was spent on himself but it was comfortable.

I laid across the bed I never used, sighing as I played around with my powers. I could make ice and fire, very unusual abilities for a vampire but they were useful. Other than that, I had a few basic abilities like night vision, hightened senses and the ability to turn into a bat. I wasnt anything special honestly, the only reason why I was future king was because my oldest brother died years ago and the second oldest was already married off to some foreign girl for political gains.

"Shoto, you need to choose a wife" Fuyumi said while walking in, "Father told me to tell you, I think a few of the girls are kinda cute, one of them is a human too"

"No offense sis, but you know me better than that. This throne means litterally nothing to me and I dont wanna get married anytime soon, especially not to someone that just wants me because I'm royalty" Somedays I really just wish I could leave this place, and in theory there were many ways I could but I know I'd feel guilty about it.

"Shoto.... I can't tell him you refuse-"

"I know, and I can't tell him I don't want to be king. I wish mom was still here" No one had seen mom in years since she was banished for 'treason' I tried to get myself banish but unfortunately I wasnt allowed to get away with it.

"What are you gonna do?" She looked so sad at my situation and honestly, I wish I knew a way to get us both out of this mess.

"You know I love you very much right?"

"Of course Sho but-"

"I need you to remember that okay?"

"I dont understand-"

"I'm leaving... I cant take it anymore Fuyu... I want to be my own person" She hugged me and helped me pack a bag of essentials, which was pretty much vials of blood and clothes along with a few hats and a cape before she took me to her room. "Sis what are we doing here?"

"I wanted to give you something very special to me... close your eyes"

I closed my eyes, feeling something being put over my head before there was a sharp stinging on my chest until I got used to it and opened my eyes, findibg she had given me her old silver locket. I opened it, finding a family picture without father in it. "Thank you... I'll keep it close"

She hugged me for the last time before I went back to my room and opened the window, carefully hoping out with the bag and quickly ran before the gaurds could figure out I was gone.

I made it to a rather fancy village, the front gates being made of solid gold and all of the buildings looking brand new, even the houses looked pretty fancy. I made my way to the inn, finding that the town I was in was called 'Fate' located in the Might Kingdom.

"I need a room for the night and a place to eat please" The man at the counter smiled, adjusting the triangle shaped glasses he was wearing as he wrote something down on a slip of paper and gave it to me.

"Your room is free, the third on the left, heres a few places you might like"

I thanked him and went find the room to put my stuff in, sighing. I had no idea where to start looking for my father, but I was hopeful. I looked at the paper of places to eat and realized they were all on the same street. 'Easier for me to see them all and pick one'

I pulled out my green jacket and put it on, huffing as my tail wagged a bit, sometimes I think tails were a curse just to disctract wolves.
