Fall Away - The Fray

I jolted awake when I heard a knock at my door. "Nara! We're heading to patrol now! There's food left for you in the kitchen if you want some! We'll see you later!" Mina called from the other side before I heard her run off. I groaned in annoyance — I didn't want to be awake right now. I stayed up last night decorating my room, everything set up the way I wanted it, but I didn't go to sleep until I assume a few hours ago. My clothes and hands had dry paint on it. I had used my copy of Ochaco's quirk so I could put the glow-in-the-dark paint on the ceiling and the upper part of the walls and the black paint on the rest of the walls and ceiling while Kuro shielded the furniture so the paint wouldn't fall on and stain them.

I sighed and got up, stumbling a bit as I stood. As I walked, I realized yesterday's walk around the school did me some good — I felt like I didn't need my crutches anymore, though I still felt a bit shaky. "It's just the two of us today, Kuro. I'm gonna need your help with the chores." I said as I opened my door. "Okay! I'll get started on the vacuuming!" Kuro agreed enthusiastically before separating from me and zipping downstairs. As I walked to the stairs, I soon heard the vacuum going, and looked at my hands. "I should probably clean myself up a bit before I dirty anything." I mumbled, then walked down the stairs before going to the girl's restrooms.

After washing the paint off my hands, I walked out and went to the kitchen to eat breakfast before I get all the trash together. Kuro had already finished vacuuming and was wiping down the windows now. After eating and washing my dishes, I gathered the kitchen trash and set it by the dorm entrance. I then went throughout the floors in search of any litter, finding a couple before going to the restrooms. I scrunched my face in disgust at some of the things I found, and quickly tossed them in the trash bag before hurrying to the front doors. Kuro reattached to me as I opened the doors, grabbing the other trash bag before walking out and around to the back. I tossed the bags in the bin and sighed in relief, wiping some sweat from my brow before it could drip into my eyes as I leaned against the wall. Despite being able to walk without crutches now, I'm still getting tired easily.

"Wow. Even though the heroes made it seem like you're their new friend, you're actually their maid now." A familiar voice commented from my left, and I froze. I slowly looked at the person, and saw Dabi there with a slight smirk and a raised eyebrow. He hasn't seemed to change, besides the fact that his hair returned to its natural white. "Dabi? What are you doing here? How did you even get in?" I questioned as I slowly backed away from him. He just followed me, his smirk growing as he looked at me like a cat would with a mouse — his prey.

"We still have Skeptic on our side. He hacked into the school's security system so I could get in undetected. As for why I'm here, I came to bring you back to our new hideout. Did you really think we'd forget about you, Rin?" Dabi told me, spreading his arms wide with his question. He then held a hand out for me to take. "C'mon, we're getting out of this shitty place." He said, glancing around the area in disgust.

I stepped back a bit more, but was stopped as my back hit the trash bin. "Dabi, I can't." I told him hesitantly, and he narrowed his eyes at me. "Why? Do you think these heroes have accepted you? You're a villain, Rin — one wrong move, and they'll see you as that again. Even if you get on their good side, all heroes would rather sacrifice you to save the world than save you if you and everyone else were in trouble. But not us, Rin. Tomura, the League — we'd destroy the world for you, for all of us so we can be free." He reminded me, his hands lighting on fire at the end. I laughed in disbelief. "Really? You told me you didn't care about me or the League, but you want me think you do now?" I questioned him, and he scowled at me.

Before Dabi could say anything, someone else spoke from behind me. "You shouldn't be here, Touya." They said, and we both looked to find Hawks, who looked like he just arrived from around the corner of the dorm building. Hawks glanced at me briefly in slight worry before looking at Dabi, his face set seriously with a glare. Dabi's expression seemed to fall in annoyance and disappointment, seeing how healed Hawks was even though he burned him. "Neither should you, Keigo. Shouldn't you be patrolling the streets in search of prison escapees with Best Jeanist and Endeavor?" He questioned with a tilt of his head, his blue eyes flashing threateningly as his fire went out.
