"Dish."
Jimin was sitting on Taehyung's bed with an iced Americano in his hand. His best friend had called him in the morning demanding to know where Jimin had gone off to, not for a second believing he went home.
Jimin explained what had happened with Yeonjun and Taehyung didn't look too surprised.
"Yeah I figured something happened because when he sat down at the table again he seemed really bummed and you were gone." Taehyung said after taking a sip from the hot chocolate Jimin had brought for him.
"Was he upset?" Jimin felt guilty that he'd done that to Yeonjun. Fuck, why couldn't he had figured all of this out earlier?
Taehyung shrugged. "I mean I don't know him that well, but he didn't exactly look happy."
Jimin nodded and looked down at his coffee. Yeonjun deserved better. Jungkook deserved better too. The kiss they'd shared the night before and the walk home had felt amazing in the moment, but now that he'd spent some time alone he felt like it might have been a mistake. Jimin had treated Jungkook like crap, he'd rejected him and the blonde boy didn't feel like Jungkook should have accepted his apology that easily. He had feelings for the boy, he knew that for sure now, but Jungkook was too good for him, too kind. Jimin didn't deserve to be treated so well.
"Okay but where did you go after you left?" Taehyung interrupted his thoughts. "And don't even think about saying you went home because I know that's a lie.
Jimin laughed a little at how passionate his best friend was about this. "I went to Jungkook's apartment." He finally said and watched as Taehyung's face changed from intrigued to shocked to excited as he told him what happened the night before, minus the part where his lungs were making his life a living hell.
"This might be the best thing I've ever heard." Taehyung exclaimed when Jimin had finished. "My best friend and my other best friend are in love, I can't believe this!"
"Yah, Tachyung," Jimin pushed the boy back against his pillows as he felt his face redden. "how many times do I have to tell you we're not in love."
"I'm a hopeless romantic Jiminah, I can't help it." Taehyung got back up to his previous position and gave Jimin a massive grin. "But seriously, I'm happy for you. You deserve this. And maybe you'll loosen up a bit now that you'll get laid regularly."
Jimin's face turned even more red. "Remind me why I'm friends with you again?"
"You know you love me." Taehyung gave him a hug that Jimin accepted while chuckling and shaking his head.
"Are you seeing him today?"
"Yeah, I'm going back to his apartment after lunch." Jimin couldn't help the smile that broke out as soon as he finished the sentence, but it soon faded. He reminded himself he had to talk to Jungkook about the way Jimin had treated him, how he'd hurt him.
"What's wrong?" Taehyung took his hand.
"I don't know." Jimin fiddled with his fingers nervously, he couldn't bare telling Taehyung what he was actually thinking.
"Hey Jimin," Taehyung tilted his head up so he was forced to look at his best friend. "don't worry so much. Stop overthinking everything and just let it happen.
"I know, it's just-" He paused for a second. "it's Jungkook.
I can't fuck this up."
Taehyung smiled at him reassuringly. "You won't."
Jimin stood outside Jungkook's apartment for the fourth time that week. Despite all that had been on his mind the other times he'd stood in front of that door, today it took him the longest to gather enough courage to knock. He was nervous.
From the time he'd stepped out of Taehyung's dorm he'd had plenty of time to think about the whole situation. To think about him and Jungkook. He'd come to the conclusion that it was probably better to end whatever was going on between them even before it really begun. If Jungkook got to know him better Jimin was sure he wouldn't like what he saw. Jimin wasn't a bright and shiny person like Jungkook, no he was like a thorn bush, if you got too close you would only hurt yourself.
In all honesty Jungkook was too good for him, he deserved better. He deserved someone who didn't pick another boy over him. He deserved someone who didn't hurt him. He deserved someone who could give him more than Jimin could.
When he started to think people might worry he was planning a break in or something he finally lifted his hand to the dark wood and knocked.
Before he had time to rethink his decision Jungkook was standing in the doorway giving him a bright smile. The boy was dressed in a black t-shirt and ripped jeans that hugged his toned thighs, his fluffy hair falling into his eyes.
"Come in." Jungkook took a step to the side to make room for Jimin to enter the apartment. "I made coffee, do you want some?" He asked as Jimin was taking off his shoes.
"Sure." Jimin gave him a nervous smile.
Jungkook took out two mugs from one of the cupboards and poured the coffee from the pot. Jimin stood awkwardly at the end of the kitchen island, not really knowing what to do. The younger boy handed him a cup and gestured for them to go sit on the sofa.
They sat and drank their coffee in silence for a few seconds before Jungkook cleared his throat. "How uhm- how have you been?" The brown-haired boy seemed just as nervous as Jimin for some reason.
"What, since yesterday?" Jimin asked and raised his eyebrows.
Jungkook flushed slightly and tapped the side of his mug with one of his fingers. "Oh- uhm, yeah maybe that was a stupid question."
"That's okay." Jimin said and chuckled.
"Why are we being so awkward all of a sudden?" Jungkook asked turning towards Jimin, giving him a shy smile.
Jimin took another sip of his coffee to avoid answering for a little bit longer. "I need to talk to you about something."
The smile on Jungkook's lips faded. "Okay."
Jimin didn't want to look at Jungkook, this was hard for him to do and looking at the boy would make it ten times worse. He ended up looking at his hands laying in his lap.
"I don't think we should see each other."
"What?"
