nightmare

I'm cornered. Crying begging for him to drop the knife but the words get caught in my throat. Laughing waving the knife around threatening to stab me. I try to scream but nothing comes out he lunges at me his body weight crushing me against the wall. The coldness of the knife pressed against my skin. Pa's eyes staring into mine full of anger. Suddenly I feel a strong pain stinging and he cuts my throat open.

I shoot up out of bed grabbing at my throat oh god it's just a dream johnny it's just a dream I try telling myself I wipe my eyes the tears never ending someone grabs me pulling me close to them I flinch yelping I stare at them with wide eyes

Their hands held up in defense I squint and it's dally he inches closer to me His eyes never leaving me

"Glory johnny it's just me Dallas"

He talks slowly like I'm some sort of terrified animal he reaches out for me slowly pulling me to his chest

I move my legs around his waist, crying into the crook of his neck he rubs my back gently trying to calm me

"Shh, Shh johnny you're ok man...I'm here you're safe"

He repeats it many times but it's not working

"Christ kid what's got you so worked up?" He mumbles to himself

"I- I- I'm sorry!..." I apologize shaking in his arms

"You've done nothin wrong hun im not mad just calm down it was just a dream it's not real"

I shake my head no I can't stop crying my heart beating so fast and my body's shakin so much

"Johnny take deep breaths you're breathing too fast"

I try and take deep breaths I wipe my eyes Dally quietly shushing me and rubs my back

"Good job johnny just try and calm down you're safe in here with me no one's gonna hurt you"

I sit closer in his lap slowly calming down some

It just felt so real that dream it was like I was about to die and I had nothing to do to stop it

"You feeling better hun?"

I nod my head he mumbles 'good' I sit up finally looking at dally his eyebrows furrowed and looks serious but anxious at the same time

He wipes the tear falling past my nose with his thumb

"Yer all good now cakes?"

I wipe my eyes nodding he smiles gently he grabs my waist laying me down with him his arms protectively wrapped around me my face hitting his bare chest

"It was just a dream johnny I won't let anyone hurt you ya hear?"

He says petting my hair and kissing me on my head
