"special day"

I frown to myself and kick the dirt underneath me the sun's already going down and dally still hasn't arrived he said he was gonna take me somewhere special and to be here at 5 but the sun's going down so it's around 7.

I stand up finally giving up knowing dally ain't gonna show I go the opposite way from the Curtis's since Steve's staying on the couch I kick a rock on the pavement

I feel disappointed I was excited to hang out with dally alone we haven't got much alone time he was the one that made the plans I scuff and fold my arms for warmth I hurry down the streets trying to beat the sun setting

I glance at Bucks and see dally through the window drinking a beer my heart clinches he was supposed to see me, not drinking with strangers.

I see my house a couple blocks away the closer I get I can hear them screaming my stomach drops even worse i back away and run back to the lot

I stop infront of Bucks and stare through the window but dallys no longer there I nibble at my lip nervously

Should I go in? It's getting cold maybe dally just forgot and he'll apologize I walk up the steps and knock on the door but no answer

I knock a couple more times and give up I let myself in and squeeze through a crowd of people Buck with a angry look on his face approaches me before I could even say anything he grabs my throat and pushes me up against the wall

"The hell you doin here?! If someone sees you and rats me out I'm done for!"

He yells over the music his grip tightening I gasp and claw at his neck my feet barely dangling off the ground he drops me to my feet and grabs my shirt dragging me to the front door I stumble almost falling a couple times he throws me out I fall on my knees and scruff up my hands

"Don't show your face around here ever again! Ya hear me stupid kid?!"

He screams slamming the door everyone outside stares at me I quickly get up and run down the steps embarrassed I wipe my eyes and limp to the lot

It was a stupid idea my neck knees and hands sting so much for a special day.
