Author POV (ft. Shinobu):
"Caw, caw! Hashira Meeting now! Caw, caw!"
Shinobu's crow flew overhead while Shinobu looked up, her wounds bleeding hard.
The insect pillar had just slayed a lower moon, but had endured some damage. There was a gash along her leg and she was fairly certain she had a broken rib and a broken arm. How was she going to make it to the meeting?
"Help, please," Shinobu sighed, but her workers were far away and she was in a fairly remote area. Her crow would not stop cawing until she reached the Hashiras.
"Kochou."
Shinobu turned around in suprise as she saw the water pillar, Tomioka, behind her.
"Tomioka-san? What are you doing here?" Shinobu asked.
"Picking you up," he replied, emotionless, "I was in the area."
"How did you know-" Shinobu winced as her wound sent a stab of pain through her body.
"The Master said you needed help."
Oh.
Deep inside Shinobu had maybe thought because he was thinking of her. She's always been dreaming of a time where Giyu might care about her, at least platonically.
"Well, thank you, but I'm fine," Shinobu answered shortly.
"You don't look fine," Giyu counteracted. He made a move towards the flustered insect pillar and for a second, Shinobu had the wild fantasy that he was going to pick her up brisemaid-style and deliver her to the meeting.
But then he walked around her and called for some healers from the Butterfly Mansion, and they set about putting Shinobu on a white carry-bed and delivering her to the mansion.
Oh well, Shinobu thought, dissapointed, I don't know what I was thinking. Tomioka-san would never do that anyway... it's more of an Uzui thing.
Author POV (ft. Giyu):
Giyu left the butterfly healers to deliver Shinobu as he made his way to the Hashira estate himself. Ever since he'd begun to care a little about the annoying insect pillar, he'd been trying to distance himself from her. He couldn't care about someone again, everyone that he cared about would end up dead and his heart couldn't take another one.
It would be fine. Everything would turn out fine. He would contuine fufilling his duty as a Hashira, if not a worthy one. He would save lives. That butterfly would not change him. She could mean nothing.
No-one could ever mean anything to him ever again.
