Jordan's POV

February 2nd
"The driver should be here any second now," Marsha tells me. One of either Marsha or Gary had to be present in order for me to get the speedy service I needed.
Marsha is a bit more tolerable.
She goes to speak again and before she can get her words out, the driver pulls up in front of us.
He opens his door and comes around to open the passenger seat door.
"You go ahead and get in," I tell him. He pauses and watches as I go to take the seat behind the steering wheel.
I'm only waiting another second so if he continues standing there I'll-
He doesn't hesitate any longer and decides to get into the passenger seat. Marsha makes her way to the back.
I haven't heard from Gabby since they were taken by the ambulance. I tried calling Maya and she has yet to respond to any of my calls.
I feel like there is something wrong and they're keeping it from me. Something that I missed from that chaotic phone call.
The drive from this airport always feels like forever. I have to past the exit to our home in order to get to the hospital.
The images of me walking in and surprising them won't leave my mind. That's how I was supposed to come home to them.
Not this way.
"You might want to slow down a bit, Mr. Palmer," Marsha suggests. I meant when I said just a bit more tolerable.
In ten more minutes I'm pulling up in front of the hospital. In that same moment, I'm receiving a call from Bryson.
But it's too late.
I'm already here.
Thinking about it, I should've called him from before but in a situation like this, the existence of most people leave my mind.
I leave the keys in the engine and slip from the vehicle. I can't help but stare up into all of the windows of the hundreds of hospital rooms above me.
I remember the last time I was in this emergency room so vividly.
There's a line when I enter.
Thankfully, when I enter, another receptionist takes a seat at the desk and asks for some people to join the other line. More than some run over, leaving me third in line.
Fortunately, the people in front of me are just looking for room numbers. As am I.
The lady at the front desks starts in the ignorant tone she just exercised with the last person but stops when she sees the look in my eyes.
"Sir? How can I help you?"
"Gabriella and Justice Palmer," I state with urgency. She looks at her computer all while slapping her pink gum through her puffy jaw.
"Room 338. Just use the elevator and when you exit, make-"
I head to them with the confidence that I'll find them without any help of hers. My feet move swiftly beneath as a follow the signs to room 338.
This floor is less chaotic than the other floors.
I spot a father trailing behind his small daughter. She's wearing a hospital gown and a caste on her right arm. She looks a bit older than Justice.
He's frowning but she's smiling.
His eyes meet mine and I look up from the small child.
I can't help but form a grin at him. One of which he returns.
