Valerie yawned loudly as she looked at the time, her gold watch reading 6:00am. Lesso glared at her harshly, as the teenager blatantly showed her boredom in the morning light. "Don't get me up so early and not expect resistance Lesso, I am still a teenager."
However, her early-morning scowl turned into an amused grin when she heard Sophie's screams echo through the dungeon, her limp feet being dragged over blood-splattered stone. Lady Lesso had called Valerie into the Doom Room to help her make sure Sophie knew which school she belonged in - especially after Rafal's message. And ever since the girl had been so rude to her, Valerie was happy to help with a little intimidation. Or bloodshed. Either worked.
"Where are you taking me?" Sophie screamed, her voice cracking as the guards pulled her feet over chipped cobblestones. Valerie hid in the cover of shadows, her breathing silent as she watched Sophie get strapped into a chair in the centre of the dungeons. "I didn't do anything that bad!" Sophie cried, her homemade thorn crown shifting slightly to the side. She struggled in her binds, something utterly useless because Valerie had frozen the buckles shut.
The Doom Room's door slammed shut, a noisy bolt sliding into place. "And that is precisely why you are down here," Lesso stepped out from the darkness, rolling up the sleeves to her white shirt. Sophie stared at her with doe eyes, tears glistening in them. Valerie chuckled, walking out of the darkness as well.
Sophie's eyes widened as her mind processed the vicious appearance of her roommate. Valerie wore a white two-piece which fell by the midst of her thigh. It was one of her more expensive pieces, bought with the money she stole from the Pevensie grandfather on the rare occasion she left Narnia through the wardrobe. It was littered with golden buttons which exaggerated the blue in her eyes.
"Valerie? Valerie help, what is this? Please, I swear I didn't do anything!" Sophie cried, making Valerie cock her head slightly. There were rare occasions when Valerie would lose most of her humanity - a short episode of feeling especially cruel.
"You." Lesso huffed, making Sophie's eyes flick back to her, "You, you, you. A girl whom Rafal has chosen, along with Valerie here. But see, my dilemma is, I know I can trust Valerie. I know she can be evil when I need her to be. But, you seem to be constantly telling everyone that you are in the wrong school. That needs to change," Lesso explained, running her fingertip across the blade of a stolen samurai sword.
