Tedros laughed with his friends, his eyes flittering over to Sophie who walked confidently down the hall. She smiled at Tedros, however, his eyes were not trained on her, but instead on the cold-hearted girl behind him who looked straight ahead, ignoring his presence.
For the first time since Tedros had known her, she sat on the villain's side of the room, throwing her glass on the floor and watching Evergirls squeal as shards of it clawed at their feet. She wore a long white dress which billowed out behind her, paired with expensive jewellery she'd bought in as midnight therapy.
Valerie sat at the table, eating the bland food whilst staring at Tedros, her words resonating in his head. Sorry, I'm just a Never to play around with. That's all I am to you, right? He'd said that about her. And she'd found out. Regret filled his cheeks in the form of a humiliated blush. If looks could kill, he'd be 6 feet under. Valerie concealed her face with the smoke that slithered out of her mouth, due to her cold exterior.
Sophie sat next to Valerie with a smirk, slamming the tray of food down. "You think Tedros likes me yet?" She giggled, munching on some burnt brownies. Valerie said nothing. but stared at him, freezing his drink as he tried to take a sip from it. He looked up at her with an angry expression, attempting to bite into his brownie but the pudding was also, in fact, frozen.
Evergirl's with curly blue hair stared at Valerie jealously, the girl radiating cruel beauty as she sat there in silence. "I'll take that as a 'you still hate him'," Sophie chuckled, touching up her peach lipstick. "If only there was a way to break his heart as he broke yours," Sophie sighed, Valerie shifting in her chair as an idea sprung to mind. "You... Reader," She turned to Sophie who was surprised Valerie could still talk. "You are surprisingly not as dim-witted as I thought you would be."
With that, Valerie got up from the seat, all the Evers turning to look at her as she strode out the hall. "What are you going to do?" Dot pulled her hand back and hissed as she attempted to grasp onto Valerie's arm. The ice billowed up her arm, making it useless.
"I'm going to make Tedros pay for what he did, break his heart by breaking everything he ever loved," Valerie stated calmly. "Isn't that a bit extreme?" Dot asked, her eyes widening as Valerie's eyes shone blue. "He made me feel something and then crushed it because I was a fool. Now I will make him pay the price for messing with the Queen of Evil."
...
"Truce?" Sophie asked the trio of roommates who stood in front of her. "Now, who wants a facial?" She asked, holding up her makeover bags. Valerie lay on her bed, staring upward as she planned what she was going to do to fulfil her revenge.
"Valerie, want a face mask?" Dot asked, concerned for her roommate because Valerie had not yet moved from the position for the better part of 2 hours. "Offer again and I'll personally skin you alive," Valerie declared with complete calmness, her voice echoing coldly around the room.
A knock sounded at the door, and a guard walked in with closed eyes in case the girls were changing. Hester threw an arrow at him and the wolf looked down at him, unimpressed, as it buried itself into his armour. "Valerie Grayskull?" He coughed, the ice-cold girl turning towards him. "Yes?" She called, her voice a little raspy.
She sipped water from an ice block which was melting in her hand. Magic was a lot easier after she had been given more freedom. "Lady Lesso had requested to speak to you," He announced, leaving the room promptly. Valerie sighed, moving the covers away from her and batting away a moth which looped around her head. She pulled on her white boots, swatting her dress away as she tied the laces, and made her way to Lesso's office.
Everybody she passed, no matter their shape or size, moved out of her way. It made her feel power again which felt nice - a separation from the embarrassment she'd felt the prior days. Just a Never to play around with. Such bullshit.
"Miss Grayskull, please, come in," Lesso said with a smile, gesturing to the polar-bear-skinned seat which opposed her desk. Valerie placed herself down quietly and stared ahead, waiting for Lesso's words. "I've heard rumours going around school. This new... you is all because of some boy," She raised an eyebrow, Valerie's eyes flickering downwards being all she needed to know what she said was true.
"Now, we don't want a repeat like last year, so I suggest that you let this rage out somehow," Lesso proposed, not speaking until Valerie decided to. The student leaned forward, her eyes not breaking from Lesso's green stare.
"The.. rage, fury, wrath, inside of me. It would kill everyone in both schools if I let it out. The power I feel had always exceeded what this school wanted for me. I feel it every day. In here," Valerie voiced scarily quiet, pointing to her frozen heart. "It pulses around like a thick ache and every day I have to resist the urge to just... let go," She whispered, her mouth hanging slightly ajar which meant she was finished with her point.
"Valerie, I know that you have always been powerful. More powerful than any of us could imagine. But right now I need to secure the lives of the Ever's. Last year was a messy one and we don't want it to happen again," Lesso smiled, trying to console the anger which radiated off of Valerie. Her student smiled, her eyes opening slightly to show Lesso how much pain she was feeling. Then it was gone and the numb, guarded eyes returned.
"I won't be killing anyone this year, but lives will be ruined all the same. Rafal told me that. That I could do something which gave me a purpose. And this is my chance. You will not stand in my way," Valerie sneered. "Y-you spoke to Rafal?" Lesso stuttered, recognition flittering through her eyes. "This is his doing!" She announced, standing up. Valerie stood up also, leaving the room without another word.
Valerie walked with her roommates past the archers, her whole being begging to control her powers as she passed Tedros, his scent filling her mind. The blessing smell of musk and mint.
"Keep it together," She cursed herself as the power nudged at her ribcage, scratching and pounding inside of her to get out. Agatha stared at the Nevers as they walked past the lunch queue, all kicking their boots up on the largest Evers table. They all ate the luxurious food, apart from Valerie who sat there not eating. She hadn't eaten in days and people could start to tell.
Tedros ignored the begging inside of him to go and talk to her, to bring back the Valerie who wanted to beat him at sparring, the Valerie who laughed at Sophie when she spoke to him, the Valerie who ate Ever food just because no other villain did. He wanted her back but he didn't know how to get her, since he was the cause of her being lost.
