NarratorA few weeks past and a lot happened. Evelyn shut down the factory for a few weeks and Troy moved into your primary school. It was a lot closer to his house anyway.
You was sitting in art in the same classroom with the same teacher. You always thought of how fun secondary school would be with switching teachers and classrooms. Also going on your phones!
Troy and you was talking along with others chatting away since everyone's task was to create a poster about the environment or pollution.
"Hey.. I'm bored. Wanna skip?" Troy asked.
You looked at him in a confused way, "Uhm why? I don't want to get into trouble Troy."
"Oh! Don't worry! My sister- Eco goes to secondary and it's a lot more easier to bunk and skip lessons in here than in her school. Trust me. Let's ask to go to the bathroom-"
"Nah. Too risky. Asking to go to the same place.. uh.. I could say that I don't have a water bottle and need water while you say you need to go to the bathroom!"
"Aww.. you're a genius," Troy patted your head before raising his hand. "Mr Warrington, I gotta pee!"
Everyone obviously started giggling as Troy left. You waited a few seconds before acting all innocent, "Sir.. I don't have my water bottle. Can I get some water, please? I'll be quick!"
Luckily, Mr Warrington agreed and you met with Troy outside.
Reader's POV
Me and Troy met outside the classroom and before long, me and him sprinted down stairs.
We walked outside into the big playground and hid in a closed off corner. It was a corner behind a wooden cabin where no one could really see you nor Troy. It was only closed because there was so many sights of seeing foxes and even the foxes did make a hiding spot just under the cabin.
"Should we wait until the end of the day?" Troy asked.
"Yes! I'm too lazy to go back to lesson," I replied. I really didn't want to get in trouble, but I don't think there was any turning back.
"When lunch is happening-"
"Troy! We don't have our bags!" I whispered in panic.
"How about we do it at lunch?"
"Ugh.. fine but this is so risky!"
...
35 minutes later, lunch came upon arrival. Me and Troy sneaked towards the door as more students came out.
Luckily and fortunately, Mr Warrington wasn't there. Me and Troy grabbed our bags.
I noticed Troy sneaking towards Mr Warrington's desk. I followed him.
We was looking through the teacher's draws to try and find what I call "I don't know". Suddenly, I noticed Troy grabbing some keys.
"Troy! Put them back!" I hissed. It was bad enough we was 'bunking' and now taking keys?!
"Don't worry. These keys are for that counsellor room with the led lights. We'll be safer there."
"How did you even know about that? You didn't join that long ago."
"I always do things like this and I always watch out for what keys get used for certain things," Troy replied casually.

Lunch ended with Troy checking his watch. You went out from the "secret corner cabin" area towards the counselling room.
There was a tiny area full of pillows where you and Troy mainly hid and things like glitter, play doh and other toys was in boxes or on the desk.
You and Troy played with the toys in the most stealthiest way before noticing a Huggy Wuggy toy. You two decided not to go near it.
"Do you think it's true what Nanny D said?" Troy asked.
You shrugged, "Not sure. After all.. they're just rumours and myths. No big deal."
"Yeah, but the alarms and the fact Hugs ran from us as soon as it came on."
You sighed and carried on switching subjects until the end of the day came. You waited until the reception class next to the counselling room was all gone before leaving.
...
"That was amazing!" Troy and you did a high five before walking home together. Troy decided to walk you home before walking himself home since yours was quite further away.
As you got home, you noticed your mum and Nanny Delaney was chatting in the living room.
"Hello mum! Hi nanny!" you said as you entered.
"My baby! Hello my sweet child!" Nanny Delaney replied.
You looked towards your mother to notice her unhappy face. Uh oh. How did she know?
"You skipped class?" she asked.
"Mum? Uh.. how did you know..?"
"The school called me saying how you wasn't there for literacy or science. Those are very important subjects! Also it's funny because even Troy's parents phoned me to say how Troy wasn't in those classes either!"
A giggle escaped Nanny's lips, "You can't blame her! She's young! Plus you used to bunk classes all the-"
"Shh!"
"Exactly mum! Anyway.. when is the factory opening up again?"
"Oh uh.. I'm not sure."
"Mum?" you asked as she just looked down.
"Child. That Evelyn woman is sick. She had a stroke this morning. Nobody knows what's going to happen," nanny replied.
"Oh. Did you visit her?"
Mum looked at nan sharply and shook her head at her before replying, "Oh uh.. yes. She was unconscious- sleeping though."
"I'll make her a card at school tomorrow! That'll cheer her up!" you ran upstairs before your mum could reply.
Rowan's POV
I sigh and took a glance at my mother, who just looked down. "Why would you tell her that?! Now she's going to write a card for god's sake!"
"You need to calm down, honey. That's what all children are like. Are you going to tell her?"
I just looked outside the window from my chair view. I didn't have the heart to tell Y/N and mum knew it.
"Y'know it may be on the news-"
"I know mum! All right?!" I shouted and took a sip of my wine.
"Well then.. I best be off!" she said in a quite loud statement to notify Y/N. "You better tell her the truth Row or you'll know how it ends."
As my mum left, I put my head down on the table. This was definitely a bad year for me.
