TW: Past Childhood Trauma, C-PTSD

(Third Person Omniscient)

____________________________________________________________

It was the fifth school they've toured this month after the kid had finally agreed to start looking into enrolling.

"So, we have Spanish class, French, Mandarin or you can self-learn your only language if  you want."

The tour guide's voice brought Hugh back to the reality of the huge school that they were in.

They were mesmerized by the different levels and amount of rooms in the school.

They've never been to a school with such a huge campus, walking beside Alex, they seemed tiny in comparison.

There was a big turf for all different kinds of sports teams.

A gym, a hall, a band room...

"So, what do you think?" Alex asked.

The kid shrugged their shoulders, "Fine, looks nice." they said with a blank face but in actuality, they were very excited and thought they had finally found the right school.

"We'll think about it," The blonde said to the guide. "Thanks," She gave a smile.

Once they were outside, Hugh tugged on the ADA's sleeve as they walked back to the car.

Alex turned to the kid to see a small smile on their face.

"What's up?" The blonde kneeled to their height which was hard to do in a pencil skirt (that of course she wore every single workday).

"So, what do you think about this school?"

Alex was surprised, they hadn't shown interest in any of the schools they've gone to before.

"It's good. There is a learning strategies department and a counselor's office. And a huge turf and many sports teams. Plus they are LGBTQ+ friendly." She said with a smile.

"I don't know. It sounds good," The kid said. "What do you think we should do next?"

They danced around the idea of enrolling to make it seem like it was Alex's.

They don't like to make decisions, it felt weird to have so many options for them to pick and choose.

They never had to before, everything was chosen, picked out, or screened by their biological parents.

"I'll enroll you if you want me to. Is that what you want?"

Hugh nodded their head unconvincingly.

"Are you sure?" The ADA asked again.

The kid nodded again, this time a little stronger.

"Okay, so that's that. I'll start the process for you tomorrow, okay?"

They gave an affirmative hum this time, and they continued to walk back to the car happily.
