Fight

"I'm so tired of people telling me what to do! I'm so tired of people saying that I'm not enough, that I'm not doing anything!"

They were back in the moment when they were defenseless against their biological parents.

'Shut the fuck up!' Their brain yelled at Alex over and over again.

They knew that their anger was not against Alex but they couldn't stop, projecting their anger onto the blonde.

The voices in their head grew louder and louder.

Their breath quickened, "Leave me alone!" Hugh yelled, slamming the door shut.

They were so mad, but they didn't know at what or who. Every single little thing irritated them today. They just felt the burning sensation in their chest.

Inside, the kid slid down the door, sighing, they broke down quietly, 'You can't let Alex hear you. She can't know anything.'

Alex was shocked, they had never acted this way before.

Olivia walked in the door just in time to hear Hugh slamming the door shut.

"What's going on here?" The detective was coming over to hang out with the two of them.

"I... I... I must have triggered their defense mechanism..." Alex started getting distressed herself, moving her hands over her face.

"Hey, I'm sure they're fine. Maybe wait for a while and go check on them then ok? You got this."

"Yeah... Ok..." the blonde sat down, thoughts racing in her head.

"What if... What if... I'm not good enough... And I'm a bad parent... Or I do something wrong..."

"Alex, calm down, you are doing fine. You have all this anxiety is because you are now a parent. I'm sure you are a great parent."

"What should I say to them?"

"Speak from your heart. I'm sure everything will be alright,"

"Okay..."

"Hugh?" Alex knocked on the door.

There was no answer.

"Can I come in?" The blonde asked softly.

"Mmhmm..." There was an affirmative hum and with that, Alex pushed the door open.

"Hi," She said sitting down beside Hugh.

"I'm sorry I yelled at you." Trying to hide the tears.

"It's okay..." Alex hugged them tightly, glad that she didn't trigger them.
