The first thing you feel is your body aching when you wake up. At least the heat is gone. Stretching, you could feel the ache leave. You could see that you were in a smaller cavern. It was surprisingly warm. If you weren't kidnapped by a Naga, you would say that this spot was perfect. Feeling something tighten around you, your eyes drifted to the arm that was wrapped around your waist before you looked over your shoulder.
Jade was wide awake and watching you with a smile, "Morning, (Y/N)."
Jerking back, you tried pushing yourself away from him. Slipping on the rock when you realized there was another snake nearby. Gasping for air when it was knock out of you. His hand wrapped around your wrist to pull you up. Not letting you go even though you tried moving away from him again.
"Easy. You're still not used to it yet." He cooed, pulling you to him, to wrap around you.
Patting your head as if to comfort you with his other arm wrapped around you. Confused at his words, you recalled the other snake and looked at it. However, the (F/C) tail was attacked to you, replacing your legs. The area where the human turns to scales hidden under a new leopard dress you wore. Reaching out to touch the scales, horror filled you when you felt your hand and the tail moved.
"Why?" You whimpered, trying to hold back your tears, "Why did you do this to me?"
"You know why, my little mate." He chuckled, kissing your head like it was the most natural thing in the world for him.
It made your skin crawl. He is treating you carefully despite forcing you to change species. Surely that's an invasion of privacy or it's racist or something. When he finally let you go, he reared up like he was moving away.
"You must be hungry. I'll bring you some food. You transformation isn't complete, and you'll need a lot of energy for the rest of it." Watching him slither away, you let out a breath as it all finally processed.
You're a Naga now. You can't change that, but maybe someone at the village can. You can go back for help. See if they have a cure before gathering a hunting party for this thing. You can grab Macy and Jake on your way out. Ryan could stay behind for all you care. You're not sure how long you were passed out, but surely it wouldn't take long for Ryan to make Jade made enough to eat him.
Trying to copy the way Jade moved, you found that it was easy to move. As if it came naturally to your body. Moving to the tunnel, you strained to listen to any slithering nose besides your own. Anything that would tell you that Jade was coming back, but it was silent. Taking the risk, you slithered on. Keeping a hand on the wall of the tunnel as you went. It felt like only a few minutes before you saw a light at the end of the tunnel. Going to it, you winced against the light shining through the tree. The cage was leaning against the tree, where you saw Macy and Jake. Both of them perking up when they saw you.
"(Y/N), look at you." Jake whispered, as you slithered over to the cage.
"I know." You hissed, trying not to flinch at the lisp you now had, "We have to go. Did Jade go through here?"
"Yeah, he took Ryan down one of the tunnels." She answered.
All of you froze when you heard an agonizing scream coming down one of the furthest tunnels, Ryans screams. Quickly unlocking the wooden cage, you helped them out. Glancing around the tunnels cautiously.
"It's this one." Jake spoke, jogging towards one, "I was barely awake when he dragged me here, but I remember clearly.
There's no time or reason to doubt him. Without question, you and Macy followed him down the tunnel. The tunnel seemed longer than the one you went down before. You had just reached the outside, when there was an animalistic roar that came from the cave. It made your skin and scales rise up.
"He knows." You gasped, feeling like his coils were already around you, "Run."
Slithering as they ran, you were surprised that you were faster than them. You knew snakes had fast reflexes, but you didn't think a Naga would be fast given their size. If an inexperienced Naga like yourself is this fast, you don't want to imagine how fast Jade is. Not to mention he can probably smell you to track you. Taking a look around, you flinched when you saw a river. You know how snakes are with the cold, but water can mask your scent.
"In the water." You ordered, slithering towards it, "He won't be able to track us."
Waiting for them to go first, you dove in. The cold nearly piercing you as you clawed up to the surface. The fast-moving current taking you faster. Feeling your tail go down, you yelped as it took you with it. You didn't realize your tail was that heavy.
Feeling arms wrap around you, they pulled you up. Jake struggled to hold you up while Macy was trying to swim to you both. Worry in her eyes as she wrapped her arms around you to help keep you afloat.
"Sorry (Y/N), we forgot you were part snake now." She yelled over the rushing water.
"We ha..have to g..get away." You barely got out without stuttering from the cold.
You don't care that the water's cold or that you're starting to get tired. The only thing on your mind is escaping that mad Naga. To get away and find a cure. For Jake and Macy to be safe. Looking up, you barely saw through the trees that they sky was changing to colors of a setting sun. The water will only get colder when it gets dark. Yelping as you went over a waterfall, you gasped for air as you were pulled back up.
Both of them pulling you to shore. You know you're too heavy for them. Trying to gather some strength, you pulled yourself out more. The second you collapsed on the ground though; it was like your body locked up. You couldn't move and you were barely conscious. Feeling one of them pick you up to hold you against their warmth was the only thing that kept you from completely falling asleep.
"It's okay. We'll get you warmed up." Jake's voice whispered, telling you that he was the one giving his warmth, "Macy is getting firewood now."
You wanted to answer, but the pain that hit your tail, only made you whimper. It was like someone was taking a knife to split it in half. Tears formed in your eyes as the pain went from the end of your tail all the way up to your hip.
"It hurts." You groaned, grabbing his arms for comfort.
"You..your tail." He gasped, "It's gone. You have legs again."
You're too exhausted to look. He seemed to get that. Instead of talking anymore, he grabbed your hands to blow hot air on them. Warming them up for you, before rubbing your arms. His heat was almost shocking. By the time he had you warmed up, Macy had a fire going. There wasn't any food, but you doubt any of you had an appetite after what just happened.
"We need to get off this island." Macy decided, "We'll be dinner if we don't."
"They'll experiment on (Y/N) as soon as they find out what she is now." Jake growled, wrapping an arm around your shoulders, "We have to help her somehow."
"We can find a cure on the mainland. She's a Naga's bride if we stay." She argued, making you glare at them.
They're talking like you're not there. As if they're the ones who will decide what you need to do. Clearing your throat, you gained their attention.
"I'll stay behind to see if the villagers can give me a cure or something." You explained, "Both of you need to get off this island."
"We can't leave you." Jake sighed, "You'll be alone, and the villagers aren't exactly the biggest fans of Nagas."
"Jade has made it clear that both of you are dinner. At least with me, he won't kill me, probably." You pointed out, "It's not up for debate. Tomorrow, we can follow this river back to the village. I think it will take us straight to it."
Both of them went silent. Seems being a Naga has given you more boldness than you had before. In this case, that's good. You don't want them to die, for no reason at the fangs of a monster.
