Staying curled up by the fire, you glanced over as Jade entered quickly. You had just sat up when he wrapped his hands around your waist and lifted you up. His eyes scanning you in urgency, before he set you down to grab your hands. You've never seen him this frantic before. It's as if that attack scared him.
"Are you okay? Did he leave any bruises on you? Did he....did he force you to be his?" He asked, seeming really scared.
You can use this. You've already decided to act like you changed your mind about him. If you ease his fear by pretending to go to him for comfort and protection, he'll easily believe you. Swallowing the lump in your throat, you shook your head as you tried your best to seemed scared.
"He didn't." You assured him, forcing yourself to think about the attack to bring tears to your eyes, "I..I was terrified he was going to though."
Wrapping your arms around yourself, you tried not to push him away when he pulled you into a tight hug. Closing your eyes, you tried to imagine it was anyone else comforting you. A family member, a friend, or even Jake. Damian came to mind though. You didn't think you were that close to him, but apparently stressful and similar trouble makes people closer. The fantasy that he was the one hugging you convinced you to hug Jade back.
"You're safe with me now." He shushed, rocking you, "No one will ever hurt you like that again. If another male so much as looks at you the way that male did, I'll kill him."
You don't doubt that "I know, thank you. Also, I'm sorry."
You felt him tense as he pushed you back a little. There was concern in his eyes, but also suspicion. He already suspects this is some kind of trap. You can help with that though.
"I should have listened to you. You were right when you said that you were the only one who can keep me safe." You explained, jabbering on like fear was making you, "I'm just scared of all of this. It's all new to me, you know? Being a Naga, the romance, the ways of a Naga, it's not like I went through it before. I just, I was stupid and scared when I refused you. It led to, well the incident at the river."
Now you could see that he was being swayed to believe you. He'll trust you a little now, but you want to make sure he trusts you completely to give you some freedom to move without his supervision. Going back to imagining he was someone else, you hugged him.
"I don't want to go through that again. I want you to protect me and show me how to be a Naga." You continued, looking up at him pleadingly.
His eyes were wide in shock like he didn't expect that. It seemed to take a while for his mind to process everything you said, but when he realized it, he gave you a teasing grin as he wrapped an arm around your waist. You don't like this, but you didn't show it.
"Really now? I think you'll have to prove it to me." He smirked, "After all the trouble you gave me, I think it's only fair."
He trusts you, but he's testing you. Holding your grimace down, you closed your eyes to imagine Damian, you leaned up to kiss him. It was somewhat easier doing it that way. Sure, Damian is more muscular, which made it hard, but if you focused only on the kiss you could get through it. Pulling away as you felt him dip you low, you grunted as you back hit the ground.
"That was perfect." He growled, almost like he was flirting before he started trailing kisses from your lips to your neck.
Swallowing the lump in your throat, you tried your best not to panic, but it hit when you felt his tail wrap around yours. You've seen snakes do this when they're mating. He's getting ready, which you don't want. With everything like this, you know Damain wouldn't be like this. Flinching that he was still in your thoughts at this point, you shook your head to clear it.
"Jade...Jade wait." You panted, pushing him up, which instantly put the distrust in his eyes again.
"What? Are you still hesitant to mate with me? You want to be my mate, yes?" He hissed in clear irritation.
"Yes." You lied, hoping you sound convincing, "I just want to do it after our unity ceremony."
"After? Isn't that a human custom?" He frowned, like he didn't understand.
Nodding, you leaned up to whisper in his ear as you trailed you nails down his chest, "When we mate, I want to call you, my husband. I want you to call me, your wife."
His body seemed to shiver as a groan left him and his head dropped to your shoulder. For a little while he was quiet before a chuckle left him. When he sat up, his eyes looked possessive, crazy, and lustful. Almost like when you woke up in that cave after he turned you into a partial Naga.
"You really know how to get your way, little mate." He laughed, pulling you off the ground, but picking you up, "You say you're not used to romance, but you drive me crazy with your seductive words."
"It's natural with you." You lied, finding it much easier now.
Hanging onto him as he climbed the branches in the hut, you let him create a hammock with his tail, before laying on him. His nails trailing up and down your back as he gave a content sigh.
"I feel like I've waited forever for this." He hissed, making you look up to see him smiling.
He seemed to get what you were looking at, because his smile widened as he lightly grabbed your chin to pull you up into another kiss. His fangs lightly piercing you lip, making you wince.
"Now you're here. You're mine, my little mate. We're going to have a good life with a lot of children." He hummed, making you nod as you laid your head back on his chest.
You played your part well. It's clear he now trusts you and believes you love him. Your eyes went to the door of the hut, making you pray that Damian could find a cure so you and he could escape soon. Fantasizing about becoming human again with Damian, you fell into an easy sleep.
