"I think that's it." You announced, setting the book down to stand and stretch.
While you stretched, Jade moved. Wrapping his coils around your legs before you realized what was happening. He wasn't squeezing at all. It was more like what a pet snake does. Watching him look the picture over, you frowned. It's been hours since Jake left. Surely, he would have been back with the villagers, right?
"It's like looking at my reflection in the lake." He complimented, making you nod, "Just as talented as you are beautiful. Absolutely perfect."
It sounded like a compliment, but it made you uneasy. Giving him a strained smile, you took your book back from him, before wiggling your way out of his coils. Hoping you've made him like you enough to let you go. He doesn't seem that bad after all, but you can't be too careful.
"Thank you." You accepted the compliment, "Well, I better head back. It's getting late and I don't want to walk out here at night."
"I'll take you." He decided, making you shake your head.
"No, that's okay. Me and Jack can find our way back." You assured him, hoping to get away.
Sure, he's been decently nice, but you feel like he's only being nice because he's plotting something. Packing the rest of your stuff up, you went to leave, but he blocked your way. His tail flicking out towards the jungle before his eyes narrowed. Raising an eyebrow at that, you carefully moved around him.
"Um, nice meeting you Jade." You called, giving him a wave as you took a few steps away from him.
Then his tail snapped out at you. Wrapping around your waist almost tightly. His eyes narrowing at you in distrust as an irritated hiss left him. He's furious now, but you don't know why.
"Your friend is gone." He growled, fangs baring at you.
Swallowing the lump in your throat, you tried to calm down. So, he can smell like a snake can. Hopefully he won't smell that you're scared of him now. Sighing and shaking your head, you carefully pried his tail off you.
"That can't be. He wouldn't just leave me." You sighed, hoping you sound innocent to him, "Jake?"
There was silence, which you expected. Letting out a confused hum, you moved further into the jungle. Jade following you closely. Even after calling for Jake several time, there was silence. Letting out a sigh, you turned to Jade.
"Look, I have to go. The villager's need to know that he's missing, so we can start searching for him." You pretended to sound sorry.
"I can hunt for him." Jade almost sounded eager at that.
A dark tone in his voice that sent chills down your arms. You imagine if all predators could speak, that's the tone they would use before they hunted. It didn't make you feel better, either, when he grabbed your hand tightly. An almost possessive, eager look in his golden eyes.
"That's a nice offer, but he's not much of an animal person. He'll probably run from you if he thinks you're after him." You attempted to sounds like you were joking.
His eyes only narrowed at you before there was the rustling sound of the bushes moving behind you. Turning around, you tried to hold down your gasp. Jake was back, but not in the way you thought he would be. There were bruises on his face and arms. Part of his shirt was torn, and you could see some blood from an unseen wound. There were even more cuts on his face. His left eyes were swollen shut. His wrists were bound by rope in front of him. Muna had a grip on his arm with a spear pointed at him. Only a few minor cuts were on him.
"She is lying. She sent him to get the rest of the humans." Muna accused, making you go tense.
Jade tightened his hold on your hand to where it was painful. Grimacing at the pain, you tried to pull away. He only tightened his grip though.
"Let her go." Jake demanded, though in his position, it's not like he can do much.
"(Y/N), is perfect. Talented, beautiful, and gentle. She cares about the nature enough to explore it, but not take from it. She is perfect from me. Just as I thought she would be at the beach." Jade called as if he was making a speech to a crowd, but he was looking directly at you, "I will keep you as my own. Your friend is another matter."
Horrified, you tried to wrestle your arm away from him. His coils wrapped around you from your toes to your chest. Squeezing painfully tight. Behind you, it almost sounded like Jake was fighting too. Trying to pry the coils away from yourself, you yelped then gasped for air when they tightened. Your vision was going blurry as your chest started to ache from trying to breath.
You barely saw Jade move to look you in the eyes. Even with your vision going dark, you could see the twistedly pleased smile on his face. It made you want to scream.
"(Y/N)!" That was the last thing you head from Jake before you passed out.
It took a while before you realized you were awake. There wasn't any more pressure around you. You could breathe much easier. Blinking your eyes open, you looked around to figure out your surroundings. You were in some kind of large cave. There was a tree with pink leaves behind you. There was the sound of a stream nearby, echoing off the walls of the cave.
"(Y/N)!" Looking up again, you saw Macy and Ryan hanging in a cage from a tree branch.
"Macy? What's going on?" You called, knowing she would have more of an idea.
"That naga brought us here." She answered, harshly shoving Ryan to get room in the small cave, "He said that we hurt the jungle and will be food for his mate as punishment."
What mate? Jade and you talked a little, but he never mentioned a mate. Frowning at that, you stood and dusted yourself off. Hearing the hissing, you swirled around. Jade sounds close, but you know caves allow sounds to play tricks. Backing to the tree, you bit down a scream when you felt your ankles get wrapped up tightly. No chance of escaping now.
"I'm so glad you're awake, (Y/N)." He almost seemed to purr, as he appeared in front of you.
"Jade, you have to let us go." You ordered, now annoyed at his behavior, naga or not.
"No." He was very firm in that as he started circling you, a smirk on his face, "I just found you. Why would I let you go."
Keeping your eyes on him, you glared at him when he kept adding coils around your legs. Soon enough he practically had your legs wrapped up with his arms wrapped around you from behind.
"So, perfect." He whispered, nuzzling your neck, creeping you out.
"(Y/N), he's chosen you as his mate." Macy screamed, making you look up at her, "Male naga's hypnotize their chosen mates to wrap around them. He's just did that to you."
Blinking at the realization, you feel like an idiot. You were so busy making sure that he wasn't going to attack you that you didn't realize what he was doing. Sure, that information would have been helpful before, but it's too late now. Feeling his fangs dig into your neck, you screamed. Searing pain traveling from the bit down the side of your body. Jade held you closer, while he stroked your head and shushed you.
"It will be over soon." He promised, as your body kept heating up.
It was like your skin was melting. What made it worse was that he was cold. You nuzzled against him in an attempt to get his coldness. You hate that it's comforting, but you hate this burning heat even more. Your reaction seemed to get a chuckled from Jade, which was the last thing you heard before you collapsed from the heat.
