Gasping for air, you glanced around cautiously. You have no idea where you are now. It seems like you've spent all day slithering. Looking for some place to hide. Leaning against a tree, you had just stopped when a spear hit the tree above your head. So much for a break.

Moving again, you tried to tune out the yelling of the villagers. Right now, you just need a place to hide. You've been lucky enough that Jade hasn't appeared, you think. For all you know, he could scare these natives away just by being by your side. Something tells you that he would hold that over your head, and he would refuse to let you go afterwards.

There was more yelling behind you that made you look. The natives were getting closer. You could hear them screaming and calling you a Nakeran. One of the cursed one. They're gaining on you. It's amazing the amount of energy hatred and fear can give.

Turning back to keep going, you yelped as you slid to a stop. Nearly running into a large rock wall. Looking up at it, you know there's no way you could climb that. You can't go around it either. The natives will catch up with you by them. Screaming as a spear grazed your shoulder, you pressed yourself closer to the rock wall. Trying to wedge yourself behind a boulder for protection as the villagers circled around you.

"Kill it!" Some screamed.

"Monster Nakeran!" Others yelled as they got ready to throw more spears at you.

There's pure hatred on their faces. What's worse is you know there is nothing you can do to save yourself. Closing your eyes for death, you peeked them open when you heard grunting followed by a furious hissing sound. Jade was between you and the villagers. Towering over everyone, with his tail flicking sharply. Just past the villagers, you saw two bodies up in the trees.

"You tried to kill my mate. My beautiful, (Y/N)." He growled, making the villagers whimper and back up in fear, "(Y/N), don't move."

You've never heard him so furious before. Curling your body into coils around yourself, you only peeked your head out of the center to watch. Silently watching as his tail lashed out. Knocked at least two more into a tree. Now that the villagers were faced with a real Naga, you could see the doubt on their faces. They don't want to fight anymore. Flinching at the roar from Jade, you buried yourself in your coils. You were still able to hear the villagers run away though. Now the villagers are gone, you just have to avoid Jade as much as you can in your coils.

"(Y/N)." You heard him hum, shivering as you felt his claws run along your coils, "Do you understand now? You're no longer welcomed by the humans. The safest place for you is with me."

"I don't want to be a Naga." You whimpered, figuring he could hear you.

"It's the only option for you now." He explained, as you felt his arm wrap around your waist and pull you out of your safety coil basket, "As I know you've experienced, the change between Naga and human is very painful. I hate to know that my beloved future mate is going through that kind of pain. I know how to make the pain go away for good though. You have to become a full Naga. There's no going back."

"Do I even want to know how to become a full Naga?" You sighed, earning a chuckle from him as he started winding his snake half around your coils.

"You have to eat like a Naga." He answered, holding up two fingers, "Two whole adult humans."

The thought made you sick. You're sure you know he has two specific humans in mind now. You swallowed as you stomach attempted to rebel against you. Sure, you hated Ryan, but you would never eat him. As for Jake, he was always so nice to you. He even tried to protect you at the end of his life. Just the thought of his death, made you want to cry. You can't imagine eating him.

Backing away from Jade, you shook your head, "I can't."

Just as you said that searing, hot pain, raced up your tail. Making you scream as you fall. Even when you tried to focus on your breathing, it didn't seem to help. Feeling Jade wrap his arms around you, you did the only thing you could think of. You buried your face in his shoulder and screamed. Being comforted only slightly as he rocked you and rubbed your head.

"My poor mate." He cooed, making you wish you could hit him for treating you like a child, "I know it hurts. That's why I'm trying to help you. You are a stubborn one though."

Feeling the pain turn into numb prickles, you glanced down at your human legs. You could see them clear as day, but they hurt so bad, you doubt you can walk. Hearing his sigh, you yelped as he picked you up with one arm. Holding you close as he started slithering away.

"Fine, tonight we'll rest." He declared, running a clawed finger along your face, "Tomorrow, I'll take you to Neeka. She might be able to help us."

"Please." You tried not to cry, "No more. No more Naga's, no more pain, no more killing. Please, stop."

"That's the life of a Naga, (Y/N)." He shushed, before pulling you into a quick kiss, "You'll get used to it with time."

Doubting his words, you went limp as he continued to carry you.
