Looking down at your snake patterned dress, you felt uneasy. This is your first celebration with a Naga tribe. Trouble is, you've already got your human legs back for the night. Jade says that your legs will make the other Naga's avoid you, but you don't want them to hate you enough to attack you.

"I suppose we're ready then." Jade muttered, wrapping an arm around your shoulders.

"Where are we going to be during the ceremony?" You asked, noticing his displeased frown.

"At the front with me, my sister, and her mate." He explained, leading you out of the hut, "My sister will perform the unity ceremony, then there will be a feast and dancing."

Nodding, you glanced around when you saw that you were surrounded by more Naga's. The closer you got to the temple, the more Naga's there were. You could feel their eyes on you as Jade lead you through the crowd. Some flicked their tongue at you, so you know they knew you were afraid. Climbing a few steps to a stage, you saw Neeka and Damian standing there with another Naga couple.

"Neeka, Damian." Jade greeted, though with Damian there was more hatred in his voice.

"Behave Jade." Neeka warned before turning back to the two other Naga's with them.

Those must be the newly mated Naga's. Looking between the two of them, you noticed that the female looks more excited than the male. He was quiet but nodded along to whatever Neeka said. When she grabbed his arm in excitement, you saw he winced with a frown. It made you feel bad that he didn't seem excited about their unity.

"(Y/N), let's sit." Jade ordered, pulling you over to a small table.

Sitting down, you watched as Neeka approached the front of the stage with the couple. The language Neeka spoke was strange. It was even stranger since there was a lisp to her voice. Staying quiet, you turned to look at the Naga who slithered on stage as Neeka motioned to them. Your mouth dropped open as your eyes widened when you saw it was Muna. Only now, he had a green snake tail instead of legs. When the newly unified male saw Muna, he instantly lunged at him. His hands wrapping around Muna's throat as he tried to take Muna to the ground. Jade and Neeka were the one to pull the two apart. That was all you needed to know.

"Muna's a tricker, isn't he?" You asked leaning towards Jade as he sat down by you again, "He was how you found me, wasn't he?"

"He lured you to a place where I could get you when I first saw you." He whispered, "I marked you by leaving claw marks in your hut back at the human village."

Humming at that, you glared at Muna. Almost praying that he would have the guts to approach you so you could try your luck at killing Muna. Watching as Neeka continued speaking and the new couple repeated her, you frowned as everyone hissed before servants started bringing out plates of food. It wasn't as special as you thought it would be. Probably just vows, but you couldn't understand to be sure.

"Wasn't that nice?" Jade asked, giving you a smile that you faintly return, "Someday, that's going to be you and me."

You hoped that he was wrong. Eating some of the vegetables and fruits on your plate, you made sure to stay clear of the meat. You could see that Jade was watching you closely though. Looks like Damian was right about the meat. You knew Jade and other Naga's eat people, but you didn't think he would force you to eat it. If he wanted a relationship keeping a secret like this wasn't a good way to start. Not that you plan on having one anyway.

"It would be a shame to waste food." He explained, pushing your plate closer, which now only had meat on it.

"I'm full." You explained, quickly thinking of an excuse, "You can have the rest if you want it."

He frowned as he looked between you and the meat before scraping it onto his plate. Looking back to the crowd, you were surprised when you saw several Naga's were dancing. They seemed to be having fun, except for the male of the new couple. Flinching when Jade grabbed your hand, you glanced at him.

"How about we dance?" He offered, instantly making you uncomfortable.

"I think I'll watch how a Naga dances first before we dance." You lied glancing behind him to Neeka, "Maybe Neeka would like to dance with you. You two probably haven't danced together since you were kids learning."

He frowned as he glanced over his shoulder before sighing, "Fine. After one dance, I'll show you how to dance."

As if the idea of dancing made him happy, he grinned before kissing your cheek and going to Neeka. It doesn't look like any other Naga's were going to approach the stage, so you could get a couple minutes of space and time to think about an escape plan.

You could run into the jungle while the party is going on, but Damian said that Jade was a good hunter. You bet he would instantly know when you leave. If you stayed in the water though, he wouldn't be able to track you by your scent. However, you've already experienced what the cold water does to you as a Naga. The last thing you want is to fall asleep due to the cold water and wake up back with an angry Jade over you.

"Well, you don't look like you're plotting." You tensed at the sarcasm from Damian who sat by you.

"I'm just learning." You lied, glancing at him from the corner of your eyes, but fully turned to him when you noticed the obvious difference about him.

"You..you have legs?" You gasped, still looking at his legs, "You're human?"

At your reaction he laughed. It's the first time you've seen him have another emotion besides stoneface. It actually made you feel better that there was another human with you.

"Yeah, for a little while at least. I won't have them as long as you'll have yours though." He sighed, giving you a small smile, "I saw you took my advice about the meat."

"I think he's going to get suspicious if I avoid eating it." You admitted, earning a nod from him.

"He's going hunting tomorrow and Neeka's going to have me watch over you while she prays at the temple. I'll take you hunting for proper meat then." He whispered, leaning closer so the others wouldn't be able to hear you, "We don't want to end up like the groom here."

Glancing at the male, you saw he was now at the edge of the crowd, almost looking like he was in tears. He must have been human at one point. It made you feel bad for him. You certainly don't want to be like him. Sighing, you glanced up at the statues of the snakes that had fire glowing in their mouths. It might be some kind of important symbol to them as whatever god they worship, but it felt like demons watching towering over you.

"Okay." You agreed, feeling a shiver go down your spine as you felt like there was something wrong.

"Well, our humans together." The voice behind you hissed, making you turn around with a glare and a need to kill.

"Muna."
