Chapter 24

Amy walked in circles worried chewing her nails 'this is fine ever thing is fine they will be back before you know it!'  Amy reassured herself she was left to wait and see if tails, shadow or sonic would come back before knuckles or the others got to them, and oh was she mad she was the one that had to stay behind though when Sonia brought up that they might come back she could help offering to stay

Amy unlocked the car and sat in the front seat resting her chin on the wheel 'i miss sonic' Amy shut her eyes she had a feeling she wouldn't be seeing anyone for a long time...

Amys eyes shot open to the sound of someone banging on the window she snapped her head to the sound to see tails he looked frightened, Amy opened her door "tails whats wrong?!" Amy said before she noticed the almost dead looking hedgehog that was slipping off of tails back.

Amy quickly took action and opened the back seat door taking sonic from tails sitting him on the seat with tails help "tails what happened to him?" Amy said concerned it hurt her to see sonic that way..

"He was kidnapped by metal and- one of the inhibitor rings fell off i tried to get to him but he went too long without it- i don't know what to do!" Tails said fumbling with his words seeming as if he were on the verge of tears but nows not the time for that, since Amy didn't know what to do either the most she knew about this was that if shadow took off his inhibitor rings too long he would loose chaos energy or something like that!

Amy turned on her wrist communicator and contacted knuckles this being her first idea "Amy what is it?-" "tails is here and he brought sonic" Amy said "sonic is with you what about shadow?"

"Shadow, he went after Eggman on his own" tails said "and sonic isn't doing well he had lost one of the inhibitor rings, he's wearing it now but he hasn't woken up since" tails continued "we need shadow!"Amy said "alright we'll drag him there as soon as possible" knuckles said before the call ended, Amy checked sonics pulse better safe than sorry Amy placed two fingers on his neck it was slow but there luckily

"What should we do now?" Tails said "i don't know the only thing we can do is make sure he is alive until shadow comes back"

Knuckles looked at his watch it beeped showing he received a message it was from tails

"What does it say?" Sonia asked knuckled turned off his communicator "theres a hole in the ground somewhere, thats how we get inside Eggmans base" knuckles said keeping an eye out for anything that went with tail's description

Sonia glanced over at his brother he seemed off somehow "Manic whats wrong?" "It's nothing" Manic responded "quit lying you haven't said a word since knuckles told us sonic was kidnapped, now tell me what's bothering you" Sonia said  Manic sighed "i don't know its just-maybe i should have went with him make sure he was safe" Manic said averting eye contact "Manic you're actually worried? you know sonic gets himself in stuff like this all the time" "yeah i know it's just what if-.." Manic cut himself off " stop being such a worry wort your supposed to be the 'cool one' remember"

Sonia elbowed Manic in the arm "why do you sound so sarcastic i am the cool one" Manic elbowed back "whatever you say" Sonia shoved Manic back laughing with a little snort as she ran ahead of him they had strayed far behind knuckles at that point

Manic caught up to Sonia both presuming the walk as if nothing happened, Manic kicked the back of Sonia's leg whistling innocently Sonia stepped on Manic foot and snickered

Manic huffed and pushed Sonia but right when Sonia was about to football tackle Manic to the ground knuckles noticed something "come on i think i found it" knuckles hurried 'oh well' Sonia punched Manic on the shoulder guess that'd have to do for now.

Knuckles looked down into the cavity it was so dark he could hardly see anything, knuckles glided down looking around at the pile of destroyed robots then to the door with light leaking out from it "alright you can come down now" knuckles called Manic and Sonia jumped down "geez this place is a wreck" Sonia said she sniffed the air it had a smokey stench to it "wonder who did a number on this place" Sonia said before they all slipped through the door

Knuckles turned on his wrist communicator now that they were inside the base knuckles could use his watch to track shadows

As the three walked down the hall of metal doors there were these sounds echoing through the hall none of them knew what it was but they had an idea were it was coming from but one of the sounds that were made sounded familiar the sound of screaming a blood curling scream sounding as if it came from a woman yelling came after that

The sounds gave them goosebumps "lets pick up pace!" Knuckles said before he started sprinting they were so close knuckles ran up to the last door and without stopping ran right through it shattering it to pieces.

Dust particles filled the air once, it cleared there revealed shadow glaring at the echidna the doctor was on the ground unconscious while shadow had him held by the collar of his shirt "shadow what happened!" Knuckles said expecting an answer "tsk" shadow dropped Eggman and walked over to a nearby cabinet that needed a code, shadow punched something in causing it to beep the cabinet squeaked as shadow opened it Manic was the first to walk over and check out what was inside

"Is that it?.. the thing we've been looking for?" Sonia asked, in the cabinet sat a beautiful blooming flower in a glass container that surrounded it there was light built into the cabinet making the flowers white and yellow petals shimmer

"It seems like it" Manic commented
