Vol. 1 Ch. 7 Repairs And Secrets

It had been a few weeks since Weiss and I had encountered that Dalek on our trip to the past. I had decided to sit in a couple of classes throughout that time and I properly met the rest of her team as well as Team JNPR. I didn't tell any of them that I was an alien from another galaxy, figuring that it would be smarter to keep that a secret. And about a week ago, I had managed to get a step-by-step guidebook for fixing the TARDIS engines from River.

Currently, I was in the TARDIS working underneath the console platform as I followed the guidebook's instructions. Luckily, I had a tad bit more patience than my brother, who would've gotten fed up with the guidebook by now. I was shirtless and had my entire upper torso inside of small compartment opening while I was messing with some of the Artron Energy connection wiring. I had made sure to leave the Scanner showing the outside of the TARDIS with the sound up, just in case someone knocked on the door.

While I was still messing with the connectors, I did hear someone knock on the door to my dorm, so I pulled out my Sonic Screwdriver and unlocked the door from where I was. I heard the door open, and it was followed by the sound of Weiss' voice as she said, "Nightingale? You here?" She opened the doors to the TARDIS as she spoke up once more and said, "Nightingale, you in here?" I replied and said, "Yeah, I'm down here." I tried connecting two of the connectors I was holding, which resulted in a big spark of Artron energy.

I heard Weiss walk over to near where I was and said, "What exactly are you doing?" I wiped away some sweat from my forehead and said, "I'm reconnecting some of the Artron energy connections to fix part of the TARDIS engines. Once that's done, I can start working on repairing the Atmospheric Buffers. Then I can start reconfigure and fix the Anti-Grav System and that should it." She was silent for a moment before she said, "What?"

There was another spark of Artron energy and I said, "I'm trying to fix the engines. It's a bunch of very technical and scientific Time Lord stuff. Ah, here's the connector I'm looking for!" I grabbed it and connected to another one, and this is was successful. Then I was able to work backwards to reconnect the others ones correctly.

I climbed out and used the Sonic Screwdriver to close up the hatch to the compartment. Once it was closed back up, I turned to Weiss and said, "So, Weiss, to what do I owe the pleasure?" She was blushing a deep shade of red as she avoided making eye contact and said, "Firstly, could you put a shirt on?"

I looked down as I realized that I was still shirtless, so I grabbed one of my nearby shirts and began to button it up as I said, "Sorry about that. You're good now. What was that you wanted for me?" Weiss looked at me and said, "Right. I was wondering if you'd like to join my teammates and I down to the docks in Vale?" I scratched the back of my neck and said, "I would love to, but I need to keep working on the TARDIS engines. I can't leave them in their current state for too long or I could potentially damage them even more than they already are. I'm sorry. But if you need something anything else from me, don't hesitate to ask."

She sighed and said, "Okay." I approached her and put a hand on her shoulder as I said, "I didn't mean it like that, Weiss. If I wasn't already in the middle of this, I'd go with you without any hesitation. Tell you what, once the TARDIS engines are fully functional again, I'll take you to a planet that's one entire resort." Weiss looked at me and said, "Okay. I'll hold you to that." I smiled as I grabbed my Scroll and said, "Thanks, Weiss. Oh, and I'll give you access to my dorm if you need me. That way you only have to knock on the door to the TARDIS if you need me." She nodded as I sent her Scroll the access key for my dorm room.

After she left, I unbuttoned my shirt and took it back off so it wouldn't get ruined. Then I did a quick diagnostic test for what still needed repaired on the engines.
