Oscar's POV
I got off the train at Mistral Central Station like the voice in my head, Ozpin, had told me. After looking around in awe for a moment, I heard Ozpin say, "Alright, now that you've made it to the City of Mistral, our next step is to find someone who's one of my most trusted colleagues that should be here in the city. He's a Huntsman by the name of Qrow Branwen. Knowing him, our best bet is to check the local pubs for him. I've sent him here on a mission before, so let's start with─"
Before Ozpin could continue, I saw something blue and shaped like a box go across the sky in the distance before disappearing in thin air. Ozpin spoke up and said, "Hmm, that could be a big advantage. Keep on following the plan, but keep an eye out for a blue phone box or a brown-haired guy wearing a blue suit jacket and a red bowtie." Slightly confused, I just continued on walking down the street.
3rd Person POV
In a nearby alley, a stuttered whirring noise that sounded like a damaged engine of some sort could be almost barely heard though the everyday noise of the nearby streets. In that alley, that same blue box, albeit now standing upright and on the ground, slowly materialized in the alley.
Suddenly the doors on the front opened, causing a bit of smoke to start coming out as a blue-haired man in his early 20s stepped out as they coughed from the smoke. He immediately shut the doors behind him and stood there as he began to slowly stop coughing and catch his breath.
Your POV
Once I finally quit coughing and I had caught my breath, I quickly checked my coat pockets to make sure I had everything. Feeling the shape of both my Sonic Screwdriver and my Psychic paper in my pockets, I let out a sigh of relief as I also felt my TARDIS key in my upper pocket. Knowing that the TARDIS was now repairing and rebuilding itself, I walked out of the alley to see if I could find someone that I knew from before the Fall of Beacon.
After a few minutes of not having any luck, I spotted a boy who was short in stature. He had tanned skin and a faint, perpetual blush and freckles on his cheeks. His hair was a dark brown and he had hazel eyes, the main iris being forest green, with accents of burnt orange and yellow around the pupil. He was wearing a dirty and scuffed white shirt with the sleeves rolled up to his elbows. His olive pants, which were tucked into a pair worn brown boots, were held up by a pair of orange suspenders. He also wore a pair of orange gloves, with green straps overlapping across the back of the hand in an X shape, and around the wrist.
To say the least, his attire gave off the impression that this kid was some kind of farm hand. But there was something about it that gave me a slight sense of familiarity with the boy, despite not having a clue who he was. I furrowed my eyebrows and said to myself, "Now there's something that doesn't make sense. Let's go and poke it with a stick."
I casually slipped into the crowd and did my best to blend in and I carefully and cautiously made my way closer to the boy. Once I had gotten close enough to not appear suspicious or be noticed, I subtly pulled out my Sonic Screwdriver and quietly scanned him. Then I allowed myself to gradually fall back in the crowd, putting some distance be the boy and myself. Once I had put more than enough distance between us, I made my way over to a nearby sidewalk and check the scan results on the Sonic Screwdriver.
After seeing the results, I thought to myself, According to these readings, that boy shows up as only one physical lifeform, but has the readings of two non-physcial beings. That would mean that the boy's body has two souls in it, with one of them being the boy himself. If I had to take a guess, that other soul is probably Ozpin's. That would explain the sense of familiarity I had with him. I put my Sonic Screwdriver back in my pocket and continued to walk through the city, knowing that there was a very good chance that Oz and I would soon cross paths again.
After awhile, I heard a vaguely familiar voice nearby and turned in its direction. I smirked as I saw Ruby, along with the rest of Team JNPR, enter a nearby house. Deciding to have some fun with them, I adjusted my tie before I walked over to the door and knocked. Nora answered it and said, "Can I help?" I smiled and said, "I believe so. You wouldn't happen to know someone by the name of the Nightingale, would you?" She glared at me with a confused expression and said, "Why?" I smiled and said, "Well, I'm a friend of him and his brother." Nora calmed down and said, "Oh. I see. Would you like to come in?"
I nodded and subtly gave Ruby a wink as she saw me enter the house. I sat down and the others introduced themselves. When they finished, I spoke up and said, "Well, I was wondering if any of you knew where the Nightingale was." Jaune spoke up and said, "I'm not quite sure how to say this, but he died during the Fall of Beacon." I rolled my eyes and said, "Well, one thing's for sure. You're wrong about him being dead. He's a Time Lord, meaning he can regenerate." Ren spoke and said, "While that may be true, a friend of ours who witnessed it said he was killed before he could regenerate. I'm sorry, but he's dead."
I looked at them and said, "So you're sure he's dead?" Jaune nodded and said, "Yes. Why do you keep asking? For the last time, the Nightingale is dead!" I shook my head and said, "Oi! Take the fricken hint! My god! You're thick." As Ruby began struggling to contain herself, Jaune looked at me confused and said, "Huh? What do you mean? Who are you really?" I scoffed and rolled my eyes as I said, "It's me! I'm the Nightingale! I'm not dead!"
As Ruby finally cracked and began laughing, I began to explain about what had actually happened to me, from me regenerating to Ruby already knowing. When I finished my explanation, I added, "But the fact that I'm not dead is something that Salem, and whoever is helping her, don't know yet. So I think it'd be best to keep that a secret between us, and Qrow whenever he gets back." They all nodded in agreement and Jaune said, "Well, for what it's worth, we're glad to see you." The others smiled and Ruby said, "With that being said, I do have another question for you, Nightingale. Back at my house when I last saw you, you told me you were going after Weiss, so where is she?"
I scratched the back of my neck and said, "Well, about that. We were on our way here to Mistral, but the TARDIS was attacked by a swarm of Lancer Grimm and we briefly lost control. In between trying to regain control of the TARDIS and evade the Lancers, Weiss fell out of the TARDIS. I managed to see her use her Semblance to lessen the fall before she went beneath the treetops. I wanted to go back for her but the TARDIS was too damaged at the point."
I paused for a quick breath of air and continued, "As we speak, the TARDIS is currently repairing and rebuilding itself. My plan is that once that's done, I'll go back for Weiss. Until then, all I can do is wait." Ruby nodded and said, "How long will that take?" I shrugged and said, "I'm not quite sure, to be honest. Anywhere from 24 to 36 hours, give or take. So until then, would you guys mind if I stayed here with you?" Ruby looked at the others who gave her a simple nod in response, then she said, "Sure! We don't mind at all." I smiled and said, "Thanks."
I hope you all enjoyed this chapter.
Master out.
