She had eyes, like blue hydrangeas, yet they sparkled like jewels. She had wavy hair, silky, and a pale blonde in color. Her skin was tanned, and her cheeks sunkissed, decorated with many small freckles.
Her lips were a soft heart shape, pink and evenly plump for the rest of her face. She had a slightly upturned button nose, and pearly white teeth, giving her a smile fit for any poster.
Her slightly downturned doe eyes, and her gentle essence was only made stronger by the rest of her. A southern accent and a soft voice, a charmingly ditsy way of being, and a short, petite frame all attributed to that sweetheart aura she had.
She was a remarkably gorgeous young woman, and though I would never want that romance again, I could recognize genuine beauty when it was presented to me.
She had hardly noticed me, if she had seen me at all, too engrossed in whatever she had been doing before. Once she made her way home, I began to wonder where she was staying, and what might have brought her here. From what I had observed, she seemed a kind woman, at least.-scouts pov-
Once miss daisy had gone, it was dark out, and I wondered why cal had never came and got me for supper, I was hungry. But even still, I wished she hadn't gone yet, I wasn't ready to be let go.
She was a weird adult, and I didn't think she seemed very good at being one, but I liked her even more that way. Miss daisy was so starkly different from atticus, but, in a refreshing sort of way.
That made me wonder if I should tell atticus about miss daisy, or keep it a secret, as I didn't think atticus would much like her. She was too different, almost his opposite. I couldn't see them liking eachother.
Miss daisy would probably think atticus was boring and confusing, and atticus would probably get tired of her personality real quick, he was never one for any funny business.
I pushed open the storm door and came inside, kicking my muddy shoes off to the side. Calpurnia heard the terribly creaky door slam, and stuck her head out of the kitchen."Scout? You ready to come on in and eat?" she asked
"Yes...?" I responded
I wondered if calpurnia was okay, because never in my time knowing that woman had she ever let me eat when I pleased, I either came to supper with jem and atticus, or went to bed hungry, she didnt waste no time holding food for anyone if they could help it.
She handed me my plate of food and I sat at the empty dining table, clearly confused."Who was you talkin to out there?" she asked
I thought for a moment, but ultimately decided calpurnia could know about miss daisy
"Miss daisy. Shes new here, shes my new friend, shes a special adult, though."
"You havent met her, but you probably could, shes real nice."
I took a bite
"Don't tell atticus about her though, they wouldnt like eachother, and I dont want drama between them. Shes separate."
"What makes you think he won't get along with her?"
"Well...shes really different than him. And I think she would be too much for him." I explained
Calpurnia chuckled
"Is that so? You talk real smart for your age little miss. You just think too much for your own good. You eat your supper now and I'll fix your bath, you was out there with this miss daisy for a minute."
"Don't tell atticus!"
She laughed and shook her head as she headed out of the dining room
"Alright, alright."
After being scrubbed so hard by cal that I just about had to grow all new skin, with my hair brushed so hard I thought I was gonna go bald, I finally got into bed.
I sat up waiting for atticus to come for our nightly reading, thinking about what I would tell him I was doing outside.
When he sat on the edge of my bed, he did the very thing I worried he would. He asked me."What was it you were doing outside, scout?"
"Jus...yk...sittin."
"You were just sitting outside?"
"Yea, I was"
He raised and eyebrow at me.
"Is that all?"
"Mhm"
He smirked a little, just enough for me to notice, so I figured he didnt believe me.
"Alright, then."
For a good half of our reading I was highly suspicious of him, wondering why he didnt question me further, because he knew how to get me to say what he wanted me to say.
But he didnt know, because he never came out, and he was eating dinner with everyone else. But after some time it seemed to have just blown over, and I assumed he just didnt care enough what I was doing to get the real answer out of me, I could be stubborn.
When I argued with him, cal would always say I got it from him, and I didnt guess she was half wrong. But atticus said he argued differently, and it wasn't an angry kind of argument.
All I knew is that I could never win an argument with him, and I didnt know who could. Once he shut the book, setting it aside, I checked to see if he looked suspicious of me, he didnt."Alright scout, its late, thats plenty reading for tonight."
"But tomorrow is saturday, why do I have to go to bed on time still?"
"Well, you still need to get up sometime early for your breakfast, and knowing you, you wouldn't sleep in if I asked you to. So, its still time for bed."
I contemplated begging him to stay and read more, but in reality, I really was tired, and I didn't want him to read any pages without me. But before he left, I asked him a deeply thought out question.
"Atticus..?"
"Hm?"
"Do you like people opposite of you?"
"Why do you ask?"
"Because, I just do."
"Well, it depends. I don't really like or dislike any certain type of person, I can get along with any kind of person, as long as they individually are agreeable to me."
I sighed.
"It was a yes or no question."
"I dont have a yes or no answer, now goodnight scout, you can ask me more things in the morning. For now, you need to sleep"
I groaned at his wordy response as he turned out my bedroom light and shut the door. From then on, miss daisy would be my secret.
