Before I would go back to The Sim, since I was getting ready for school, I headed out with Melissa to see my Abuela. She was supposed to have woken up and of course I wanted to see her right away.
But since Melissa wanted to spend some time with me and she liked my grandma at least as much as I did, she came along. This didn't bother me at all either, since it meant I wasn't sitting alone on the bus like an invalid girl, staring emoly out the window.
"By the way, I'm sorry I kept talking about Heeseung and Aleyshia. I was going to see if you'd come clean, but you never did," The brown-haired one next to me commented as we exited the yellow bus.
I waved it off. "It's okay, but almost no one knew anyway. Just someone and he definitely hadn't known because I wanted him to know." "Him?"
I pushed open the big white door and turned to Melissa as we walked the white hallways together. "Jake." Melissa's head tilted as I spoke his name.
"He's also the reason I never confessed my feelings to Heeseung. He stopped me before I did, and honestly, I'm pretty grateful to him for that."
I nodded to the nurse, who by now knew me pretty well since I kept waddling up the last few days.
The dinner with Jake was already 4 days ago and since then, we had not seen each other so often, because he was almost every day at the racetrack when I had shifts and during the school was mostly only small talk, because Heeseung came staggered again and again.
I avoided my crush pretty well until now, but my feelings didn't really understand that. They still wanted to make me believe that I had a chance with the gray-haired man.
I was lucky, though, that Melissa often distracted me or just took me away from Heeseung and Aleyshia when they were shooting porn in the cafeteria again.
I had no idea when this Sunoo would be back, and I didn't know if I wanted to be present then either, because I kind of felt sorry for Heesueng already.
"How much are you actually short until you can pay for Abuela's surgery?" I didn't want to discuss this in front of my grandmother, so I stopped my steps outside the door of her room as I gave Melissa this answer.
"Worked out a little more than a third already. So of what I have to pay myself. Tell your parents thanks again, okay?" My best friend nodded and together we entered my grandma's hospital room.
"Hola Abuela." When she recognized my voice, her head lifted and she began to smile. "Estela mi niña." My cheek got all warm as she called me what she had called me in my diaper days.
"Why don't you come here? You too Melissa. Hey." She patted her mattress and I wasted no time. I squatted down next to my grandmother and she immediately grabbed my hand and clung to it.
"You look really tired... Are you okay?" Abuela brushed my dark brown strands from my face and looked at me worriedly.
"Shouldn't I be asking you that?", I gave out quietly, glad that she was finally responsive again. "I'm fine," Abuela said again and I started to grin because she was the greatest.

I ran a rag over the counter surface and listened to the conversations that were not meant for me. What else was I supposed to be doing here?
My shift would be over soon and really I was just waiting for Jake to have his mom come over and tell me I could leave.
A crumb stuck to the counter and with a little more force I began to scrub. How could a crumb be so stubborn too?
