Yesterday I actually wanted to go straight to Abuela, but I wasn't allowed. It also made sense. Why would I be able to go straight to her after heart surgery? Really great thinking, Stel...
I should wait a little longer, the doctors said. I would be able to see her in the next few days at the latest, as if I hoped that the Spaniard would soon open his eyes.
At the moment I was sitting on my bed in my room with Melissa next to me. "Any word from Jake yet?" I shrugged my shoulders and bit my bottom lip impatiently.
"I guess you can't wait for him to wake up, huh?" Caught off guard, I shook my head and fixed my lap with glowing cheeks. "That obvious?"
The brownhead laughed out. "I was just waiting for you to finally catch on." I lifted my hand and stopped her. I'd never told her about the fact that I was seeing Jake as more than friends by now.
"How, and when?" was all I asked. My best friend's brown eyes twinkled playfully at me. "In the cafeteria. I don't know why, but I had just felt it. It seemed to me where, like there was just an aura around you guys that screamed love."
I laughed out loud and put my head back. "Don't exaggerate. You're talking like you're a fortune teller." Melissa joined in the laughter, playing with her braid. "Yeah, I know, but to be honest, I was hoping you were."
It got a little quieter between us again. "I was, and still am, very glad you met Jake. He took a lot of the burden off you during your time with Heeseung. Even if he did it more subconsciously." Believe it or not.... I was grateful to him, too.
"Now, let's be honest. Was there really never even one situation where you could have seen that there was more than friendship there?" Melissa looked at me curiously and I swallowed.
Thoughtfully, I looked past her. Would she hit me, would she know that Jake and I had slept together?
I shrugged my shoulders sheepishly. "Yeah well... maybe once or twice." "Did you guys kiss?" Not just on the mouth...
I grimaced in agony, which showed my best friend that I was pretty damn uncomfortable. "Sort of," I then gave out and without realizing it, I looked down at the bed below me and gave myself away.
I hadn't realized it at first, but the brownhead in front of me had followed my gaze closely. "Holy shit!"
The mattress stirred jerkily and I lifted my gaze to face the Pippi Longstocking. She had jumped up and was rubbing her legs. "Please tell me you changed the sheets!"
It took me a while to be able to follow her completely, when a smile I took a while to be able to follow her completely, when she smiled back at me.
"Of course I did. Who do you think I am?" Melissa's mouth was wide open and her eyes threatened to fall out of her head.
"Wha- How? Why?" Embarrassed, I shrugged my shoulders once again and rubbed my hands uncomfortably. "It just happened and after that we didn't know what to do and just ignored it, which by the way didn't really work..."
Still with her gaze fixed on me, she groped blindly for my bed, missing several times before joining me again. "You had Se-" "Yeah, never mind that now," I interrupted her, waving it off as my phone began to vibrate.
NUMBER 81
My eyebrows drew together in confusion as it suddenly dawned on me. Overwhelmed, I looked to my best friend, who loved to make an unnecessary comment. "Booty-call?" I showed her my middle finger and picked up.
