You woke up to your alarm and a letter from your brother on your desk.
'Dear sister,
I have found an error in your jewelry that you have been wearing for the past few years. I know a good colleague of mine that will arrive in Japan soon. He will contact you and you'll have to live a week without a few rings. I know it'll be fine. Just don't get too emotional this month and everything will be perfect.
'Ciao
-the one and only'
You sighed
Great, what now? Can't express my feelings? The rings have been perfect for the last year, what is so bad now? Well, maybe it's because my power is growing...ugh
You try to do something else, so you put on some good music and do your morning routine, lip-syncing to the lyrics and dancing along. You go down to the kitchen, music full blast and making breakfast. As you swing along to the lyrics you hear steps behind you.
"Morning dad!" You wave to him, still facing your bacon on the stove.
"morning, Hana"
Hm weird, that sounds like-
You turn around and see Saiki.
"AH" you flinch at the sight of him and turn off the loud music with a red face. "HOW DID YOU GET IN?"
"Your dad let me." Saiki answered truthfully.
Damn it dad should let me know first
You put the bacon on the plate and offered him some too, but he declined.
"You're earlier than usual"
"My brother came to visit" he said with a stone face
You nodded with an understanding "mmm"
You finished eating and the both of you started walking to school.
You arrive at school and a girl who you haven't seen before, ran towards Saiki, wanting to hug him but Saiki doged.
"Oh hello new girl! Glad that I can finally meet you too!" the gyaru started speaking with you, she seemed a bit taken back at first. You nodded shyly as a hello.
wow I love her nails
You shook hands and she introduced herself.
"I'm Aiura! What's your name? "She seemed like a social butterfly. You wanted to give her the same energy back, but couldn't, because you must be quiet.
"Hana..I love your nails" you smiled at her
"Oh thank you Hannie"
That was fast for a nickname
She took out a crystal ball "well, Hannie. What do you wanna know about the future!"
Your eyes sparkled "oh I love these...but I don't know!"
She smirked, "Come on, I bet it's about your future husband!" You giggled at that.
"I'm not really into that stuff!" Waving your hands around, but Aiura just raised her brow "Interesting,"
Huh what about that
"you're acting like Saiki blahblah, let's find out!"
You giggled again and nodded "well if you want to!"
She started doing some strange ritual with pencils and a box-cutter.
"Strange" she spoke
"What?" Your eyes widened in curiosity.
"Nothing...and I didn't want to say it but.."
oh shit, maybe she figured out about my powers?
You took her hand "I don't want to know!" you gave a quiet squeal.
Aiura gulped and looked over to Saiki, who seemed to be glaring at you now too.
"Okay what is it?" you now wanted to know.
"N-nothing!" the gyaru laughed awkwardly but you knew she was lying, you didn't want to take your ring off though, even if it helped you to read people's minds. It feels rude to dig into their thoughts.
You sighed and decided to go to the restroom. Aiura followed as well. You took the ring off, thoughts beaming at you.
"What is it whis Hannie girl, I can't read her"
Ah, a fellow psychic
"So," you started, "what did you read about me?"
It felt like you stared into her soul.
"I uhm, couldn't read you. It has never happened before!" she spoke with a bit of fear.
You start chuckling "Oh that makes sense! My great-great-great-great grandparents had mind-reading abilities and they found a ring that helps you to stay out of sight" you wave your hand at her. She nodded "Makes sense, want me to read again?"
"Oh this makes sense now, I guess I was worried for no reason." Saiki thought to himself now, in class.
"No." You quickly answered "It is too dear to me" Aiura nodded and the both of you went into classes.
Rest of the day was the usual, you talked with everyone as usual and tried not to get too much attention.
You walked home with Saiki as well. You got home and today the parents didn't plan to hangout, which relieved you a bit.
*ding ding*
What now
"Hello Hana, I work with your brother. I heard you have jewelry problems." A blonde man greeted you, you stared at him.
"Hm, yes. Why do you know?" You answered suspectedly.
"Oh no need to fear me," he walks in. "We just need to make a plan, so you don't collapse by taking too many of them off so quickly. These hold your powers all away, correct?" he took your hand and gave a fake-ish smile.
Odd man
"Yes, correct. Why are they 'broken'?" You looked at him again.
"Oh they aren't. We just need to make them stronger, so your powers don't burst out. They seem ready to break at any moment"
Now that you looked, he was right.
Oh but it will be so weird not wearing them...
"Okay, I think it'll be best if you took one of them off every other day. Some of them hold the same power, so it can slowly adapt to your body. It must've been a long time since you used your powers, yes?"
You nodded "Correct. So I'll bring them to you every other day? Should I give you the other jewelry as well?"
"Yes, of course, everything needs to be looked over at. I'll be here until the end of the month, don't worry," he took out a paper "here is my address, come by at 5pm. You'll get them back on the last day of the month" he gave an unsettling smile and left.
what an odd...odd man
You took a look at the paper.
Oh
He's Saiki's brother
