17 - liar

Monday 4:50am, your front door.

You and Kuskue were standing while the sun started to rise behind the trees. You looked at the 2 last rings on yout hand, you had to give one away. Kuskue stood in silence, waiting for you to give one to him.

You stood there, scared. You knew that you'll still have one more, but it didn't give much comfort. You felt your body shake in fear, your heart that you thought would be cold by now was shaking with you. You felt adrenaline rise as you slowly took the last ring off. You sighed while you slowly gave it to Kuskue.

"Took you long enough" he took it quickly and left your front door. You went back inside to get ready for school, your dad had arrived at night, so he was heavily sleeping, having to go to work in a few hours.

You sat on your bed, looking at your hand, which only had one last ring on it.

Even if I am scared, I can't go back now or what?

You were ready to go to school, so you waited for Saiki to arrive at your door. To be honest, he didn't need to do it anymore, since you know how to go to school, but you liked to walk with him so you didn't tell him that.

Your dad rushed to work and Saiki stood by the door, surprised that you were ready already. "Ready already?"

"Yes? What about it?" you said while taking the bag from the ground.

"You're usually slower"

"Thanks"

"Just saying," Saiki mutters while the two of you walk on the street.

The two of you walk to school, with Nendo and Kaido catching up to you, later joined by Aren as well. Kaido and Aren were talking about some video games while Nendo tried to talk with Saiki, who clearly ignored him. You gave a small chuckle at that and saw Teruhashi and Chiyo by the lockers.

"So how was your weekend, boys?" Teruhashi asks, making others speechless. You could even hear a few "Oh wow's" from strangers.

"O-oh it was great!" Kaido stuttered with a small blush.

"We went to eat ramen!" Nendo smiled warmly.

You turn to look at Saiki, who nodded to you in confirmation.

"So what did you do?" Aren asked with a small blush on his face as well.

Teruhashi started to talk about the sleepover at your house with Chiyo. You stayed quiet, smiling a little. Your mind tried to be in the conversation while everyone of you walked to class, but you were worried sick about your powers.

When you walk in, you can hear people talking about a new transfer student.

"We seem to get them a lot this year huh" Chiyo smiles, glancing at you.

You yourself never thought to be the quiet type, you even feared that others found you to be a loud classmate. In reality, everyone thought you were a shy kid.

The class starts. You see the new student walk in, he introduces himself and everyone seems disappointed, especially the guys who wanted him to be a cute girl.

You were doodling in your notebook, so you didn't really hear about his conversation. The only thing you remembered was that he was a bit intense for others.

Lunch came and you were still looking at your hand at times, trying to calm yourself down. You see the new boy and decide that you don't want to talk with him. When everyone sat down, you went to eat by yourself, you knew that Teruhashi wanted to hear an "Oh wow" from him.

You ate close to their table, reading a book. You were in deep thought, even ignoring the fact that Saiki decided to sit in front of you. You look up and see him, staring at you "Oh hello Saiki" you mumble with food in your mouth.

He gives a gentle nod and continues eating.

You two enjoyed the quietness around the your table and finished eating, when you two stood up, you started to talk about the book.

"Liar." you heard from behind you.

So it is him.

You ignore the sound from behind you and leave the cafeteria, with the new boy running after you two. You grab Saiki's hand and start to drag him with you to the next class.

I don't have time for him, I am already stressed out enough.

You basically jog to hide from him, you and Saiki now on the roof. You breathed heavily from the run.

"Who's he?" Saiki asks, removing his hand from your grip.

"Nobody important" you huff and puff.

"Then why did we run?"

you got me there...

"Old friend..." you looked at the door, not even wanting to tell Saiki, your closest friend at the moment.

You see the doorknob wiggle and you step behind Saiki, hoping that you won't be seen.

"Hello, liar." you hear Masa's voice. You feel all different kinds of emotions, you are speechless, you feel so much and yet so little.

"Stop calling me that" you stand next to Saiki now.

"Why should I? You even respond to that word like it has been your name your entire life." he crosses his arms, a wide and creepy smirk appearing on his face.

You stay quiet. You can't even look Masa in the eyes. In some way you were right, you are a liar. You lie to everyone about not having powers, you lie to people about our thoughts, your life ect. You feel like you want to talk back, but your body is too weak to do so.

The only thing you have the strength to whisper is "I am not a monster."

I feel like I have heard her say it before.

Saiki thought.

Masa walks close to you "I know that you are, I might not remember the whole story but I know it has something to do with you!" his eyes are filled with rage.

He gets even closer, you feel horrified. You feel Saiki's arm on your hip, as he slowly pushes you back, with an irritated look on his face "Leave her alone.".

Masa stares at him for a moment, then walks away.

The boy who loved nature. He stared at the stars, loved the smell of flowers and wanted to become a biologist, just because he adored the life and beauty of nature. I ruined his life. He looks at it with emptiness and doesn't care about anything or anyone. The only thing he can tell me is that I am a liar. I ruined his brain,

I am a monster.

Saiki looks at you with concern, as you just stare at the ground like a sad child. He puts his arm on your shoulder. You hug him with a sigh and he stands there, not knowing what to do so he pats your head.

"Sorry I dragged you into this Saiki '' you whisper as he stays quiet.

"It's fine" he says while the two of you now walk back to classes.

Now I have to deal with Masa and my fucking powers.

When you walk down the stairs you see that the handle looks a bit off, so you decided to ignore it.

The whole day you tried to ignore Masa, you couldn't deal with it, it hurt too much.
