11 - girl gossip

The last 4 rings on your hands. You don't want to give them away. You are scared of what might happen if you only have your atenas on. You fear that with gaining your old powers, you lose a bit of humanity in yourself. You have become more distant after the last ring.

When you were about 5, before all of your jewelry, you used to be extremely quiet, to the point people thought you couldn't talk. You had no friends and always just sat there, listening to others thoughts. You still listen to others, but after you got the new "toys' ' you felt like a new person, not afraid of destroying anyone or anything. You felt as if you were normal, like everyone else. Because feeling different has been the worst kind of pain, you hate how the media glorifies being 'different' and 'quirky', because in a way we already all are that and we shouldn't even try to be different from others. Yes, be a good person and love yourself as the way you are, embrace humanity and don't be afraid to be like everyone else, feel proud to be among your peers, but don't always follow like a dog to them.

If I do, I shall wear a stone face on my head and have thoughts no human will bear. Woah so poetic of me, I should write that down.

You sat in class, just looking at the rings, feeling someone else doing the same. You look around and find Saiki gawking at them. You ignore the stare and try to focus ...and fail.

After school you expect the same thing, walk home with bubblegum and maybe stay at his house. So when the class ends you walk over to Saiki. Before you could say anything, Chiyo and Teruhashi appeared behind you.

"Hey Hanna!" Teruhashi smiled at you, you could feel some boys turn their heads to look at her bright and perfect smile.

"Uhm hey" you smile back awkwardly.

"So we thought of having a girls hangout right now, you in?" Chiyo spoke.

You look at Saiki, already tired of this interaction "Oh, well Saiki I hope it's fine. You can walk home with Nendo and Kaido. Y give a small mischievous smile. He looked at you with a death glare but walked away anyway.

"So where are we going?" your eyes start to shine, you missed going out and spilling tea with the girls.

"We thought about a nearby cafe! It's a really nice place!" Chiyo spoke again.

The three of you walked there, you had put the ring on, so your evening could be more interesting. At the cafe you saw how everything was so cheap for Teruhashi and you couldn't help but to feel a bit jealous. She is indeed a magnificent girl, even remembering everyone's names. She tries so hard to be perfect and honestly, she was extremely close to it. But moving aside, the three of you had some gossiping to do.

You chatted for about an hour until you hear a question that you can never escape when hanging out with girl friends.

"So do you fancy anyone?"

"I want to know about you two first" you smirk and rest your chin on your hands. The girls went red

"W-we don't like a-anyone, you don't know- know them!" Teruhashi speaks while looking behind you.

What's she staring at?

"Quit lying, we know you dooo~ I'll start guessing if-" your social side is shining right now. Teruhashi laughed "shhh, I'll whisper it". Everyone came to the center of the table

"Okay I'll say it too if she is and you too Hana!" Chiyo whispered. "Hmm sure" you smiled.

"You start Hana!" Chiyo giggled

"I- uh...don't like anyone..sorry"

"Bummer, but okay.....I don't really believe you," she squinted her eyes at you "oh maybe Saiki! You two are close!"

You start laughing, trying to stop but can't "no way! Sorry but..no."

Teruhashi looked at you, face flushed

"I- um, like him" she mumbled.

You tried to act as if you hadn't deduced that from her thoughts from the 1st day at school. "Omg what!?" You whisper and shout.

"A-and I like Kaido" Chiyo whispers extremely quietly. You smirk "oh that I could tell, actually you both are pretty obvious," scaring the two of them and them shaking their hands in panic "I can see because I'm not an idiot like others, I'm pretty sure that they are clueless."

"Don't scare us like that" Teruhashi laughed and the three of you left giggling, now you take the ring off, wanting to know what they thought of the evening.

I didn't know she could be so social

You all waved goodbye to each other and you walked home happily, realizing that your social battery had run out.

A few trees behind you hid Saiki, still thinking of a flawless plan to get the ring.

She was pretty social, good to know she has no intention of liking me unlike Teruhashi. Good grief, I still didn't get any information about the ring.

As you walk home you listen to the singing birds and murmur some random noises to yourself.

I haven't really thought of this but me and Saiki are really close... and now that I just remembered.. I still don't know why I can't read his mind, I haven't seen him wearing the jewelry...oh maybe the hair clips? Does he wear rings? I don't look at his hands. Okay maybe a little, ANYWAYS.

Maybe he is an esper? Haha nice one, me, if anything he could float. But again, he does have the stone-face I am scared of when I take the rings off.

You rant to yourself while walking home, you go to open the door and see your brother, back again.

"Why on earth are you back here." now exhausted.

"Wanted to see if the experiment is going well" Daichi smiled at you.

"It is, now leave."

"Can't, I have a meeting with Kuskue Saiki, the one who updates your rings. But I think you know that."

Daichi smiles and pats your head, you take him by the wrist and look him dead in the eye

"Don't annoy me when I am tired."

Little did you know, Saiki has perfect hearing, so he heard the conversation and had no context, it of course made him worry.
