It had been 18 years since the war. The Sky People were sent back to their dying planet. Some of the Sky People who were loyal to the Na'vi were chosen to stay. But even then some who weren't loyal went into hiding.

When Raya was nine, her mother and father got into a fight about Raya and her sister Zara, who was only a baby at the time. She didn't remember what it was about, but she knew it was about her and Zara. It didn't end well.

She went to bed one night and woke up the next morning to her mother packing up her stuff. She told Raya she was sorry.

Then her mother just left.

Raya didn't understand at the time, but her mother leaving crushed her father. He started going out and leaving her home alone for hours by herself to take care of her little sister.

"Daddy where are you going?" She asked her father one night as he was leaving their tent in the middle of the night.
"Oh sweetie, I didn't mean to wake you. I'm just going out for a little bit but I'll be home soon, I promise." He told his daughter before kissing her on the forehead, and turning away to leave.

"But what about Zara?" She asked, stopping him in his tracks.
"You'll both be fine." He said leaving without another word.

When she woke up the next morning, her father hadn't returned. She waited all day for him to come home. She didn't know what to do, she was scared. Her little sister was asleep in her crib, so she went outside the tent to go play with the other kids.

That's when she met them for the first time.

There were two boys playing with fake bows and arrows chasing each other around. A girl sat on the ground beside them making a necklace.

"Neteyam give it back!" The smaller boy yelled as he tried reaching for the fake arrow his brother had taken from him moments ago.
"No! It's mine! Go get your own, Lo'ak!" He yelled at his little brother.

"Hey!" A loud voice yelled at the two boys, stoping them in their tracks. He looked to be their father. "That's enough, alright. Don't make me come over there."

She looked back at the girl who was crouched down making a necklace to find the girl walking over to her.

"Hi!" She said smiling.
"Hi." Raya said back at the girl who was still smiling.
"I'm Kiri. That's Lo'ak," she said pointing to the youngest brother, "and that's Neteyam." She said pointing to the other brother.

"I'm Raya." She smiled at Kiri. She smiled back and grabbed her hand, "I'm making a bracelet! Maybe you can help me?" She led her back to where she was sitting and they staring making bracelets together.

Jake noticed Raya, and he tapped Neytiri on the shoulder and pointed at her.
"Neytiri, look. Isn't that Ka'is daughter?" He whispered. She turned to look at the small girl before turning back to Jake.

"Yes it is. She has a little sister too, her names Zara." She said as she realized Raya's father had left and he hadn't returned yet.
"Ma Jake, nobody's seen Ka'i in almost two days."
"What about her mother?" He asked his wife.

She shook her head before saying, "A few months ago, her mother left. No explanation. She just packed her things and took off." She said, looking over at Raya.

Jake stood up and walked away from the kids out of hearing distance.

"Why would she just leave? And what kind of father leaves their children alone this long?" He was angry. He didn't get why Ka'i would leave his own children by themselves when one was only a baby.
