Raya and Neteyam woke up early the next morning to head back. They called for their ikran and started the flight back.
"So, what are we going to tell everyone?" Raya asked as she flew close to Neteyam.
"The truth. We went out and mated like people who are in love do." He said looking over at her and smiling. She looked at him and smiled then looked forward, seeing something that caught her eye.
"Neteyam, look!" She yelled as she pointed.
It was a group of Tulkun surrounding something. They flew down closer to get a better look and then they realized what they were looking at.Ronals spirit sister, Ro'a was dead, and so was her calf.
Raya flew down and disconnected her queue and jumped off her ikran into the water and Neteyam circled around it.
"Neteyam! Get back to the village and get Ronal and Tonowari!" She yelled. He nodded and took off.
She sat on Ro'as fin and put her hand on Ro'a.
She looked over to her left and saw her calf floating in the water. She looked around even more and saw the rest of the tulkun weren't leaving.
She sat there for what felt like forever, but she looked up and saw the whole clan on their way. Ronal swam up to Ro'a on her skimwing.
"No no no." She repeated as she climbed onto her fin next to Raya. "What is this!" She yelled as she began crying. Raya stood up and stood behind her with a hand on her shoulder.
"I'm so sorry." Raya said softly.
"She was spirit sister." Ronal said through tears. "She waited many breeding cycles to have this calf, the clan was so happy for her."Ronal placed her hand beside Ro'as eye. "What is this Tonowari!" She cried out again. Her cries were like piercing knives through everyone's heart.
Raya looked at Neytiri and saw the pain in her eyes. She knew Neytiri had been through this before when she lost Seze. She knew the pain Ronal was feeling.
She watched as Jake and Neytiri swam onto the other side of Ro'a on their skimwing.
Jake noticed a tracker sticking out of her side and he went and pulled it out.
He looked at Neytiri and she knew instantly.
This was the Sky People's doing.
——Back at the village everyone was debating on what to do next.
"My wives spirit sister was murdered." Tonowari announced to the clan. "By the Sky People."
Gasps went out through the crowd. Jake stepped forward. "It is not smart to attack."
Ronal stood in front of Jake. "You live among us, yet have learned nothing!" She yelled.
"Just listen please!" Neteyam yelled and Raya walked over to him seeing him holding the tracker.
"My wives spirit sister and her baby have both been murdered. You have brought your war here." Tonowari said to Jake and yells let out through the crowd.
"We will attack!" Tonowari yelled holding up his spear.
Jake walked over to Neteyam and took the tracker from him and walked back to Tonowari and held it up in the air.
Everyone went silent.
"You need to tell the tulkun, if they are hit by one of these they are marked for death."
Raya looked over and saw Lo'ak look down. He walked over to Tsireya and said something to her then left.
Raya and Neteyam followed him, and Aoung, Roxto and Tsireya followed shortly after
