Noticing Jade's audacity, the man lifted an eyebrow and asked, "And who might you be?" His tone was defiant, indicating that he was not fond of being reprimanded by a stranger—especially not by a young girl.
"Who I am is of no consequence. Just don't tap the glass; it's stressful for the snake," she replied, her voice tinged with an air of mystery.
The man's glare sharpened, his curiosity ignited by her mysterious comment. However, instead of probing further, he opted to step back, walking away with a combination of confusion and annoyance etched on his features.
Jade watched as he and his kid vanished into the crowd, his heavy footsteps fading into the distance. The encounter left her feeling a strange mix of achievement and irritation. However, she noticed a boy with a scar on his forehead leaving alongside them. "If I ever run into him again, I'm going to ask him how he got that scar." she thought to herself with a smirk.
As she turned her focus back to the python, its brilliant golden eyes unexpectedly flickered open. This mesmerizing sight took her by surprise, making her pause for a moment. Slowly, as if under a spell, the snake lifted its head until its eyes were on the same level as hers. Captivated by curiosity, Jade held the snake's gaze, her confusion apparent in her expression. Unsure of how to interpret the moment, she quickly glanced around to see if anyone else had noticed this unusual interaction. Fortunately, no one had; it was just her and the mysterious snake.
Jade was filled with a mix of fascination and amusement. She chose to interact with the python. Directing her focus entirely on the snake in front of her, she returned its wink with little reluctance. In that moment, it appeared as though they exchanged a silent agreement, as if they shared an unspoken language understood only by them. Although the encounter left her with an abundance of questions, she felt an undeniable connection to the mysterious python. It was a moment that highlighted the hidden wonders and surprises that the world holds, if only one takes the time to observe and engage.
The snake jerked its head toward the fat man and the round boy who had just tapped on the glass. Then, it raised its eyes to the ceiling. It hissed, and Jade swore she heard it say, "I get that all the time." She blinked in shock, not expecting the snake to have a voice, much less one that could speak human language.
"I know," Jade said quietly through the glass. She wasn't certain if the snake could hear or grasp her meaning. "It must be quite irritating." The snake nodded slightly. Suddenly, a loud shout erupted from behind her, causing both of them to flinch.
"DUDLEY! MR. DURSLEY! LOOK AT THIS SNAKE! YOU WON'T BELIEVE WHAT IT'S DOING!" someone yelled as the fat boy, she assumed was Dudley, waddled toward them as quickly as he could manage. "Get out of the way, you stupid girl!" he shouted, forcefully pushing Jade down to the ground.
Her intense gaze, filled with anger, as she directed her glare toward Dudley's back. His rude actions had pushed her to her breaking point, and she was ready to unleash her fury on him. But then, something unexpected happened, freezing her in place. In a flash, something happened that left everyone in shock. It was so quick and mysterious that no one could grasp what had just happened until it was too late. Initially, the boy—slender with a rat-like face and straight black hair—bent closer to the glass with Dudley beside him. But in the blink of an eye, both boys jerked back, letting out screams of terror that resonated throughout the reptile house.
Enthralled by the unexpected turn of events, Jade stood up with a sly smile on her lips. The anger she had felt earlier evaporated, replaced by a sense of satisfaction. She glanced at the python, expecting to find the source of the commotion. To her astonishment, the glass barrier of the python's tank had vanished without a trace. In mere seconds, the massive serpent uncoiled and swiftly slithered out onto the floor. Chaos broke out in the reptile house as visitors shouted in panic and scrambled toward the exit.
