"She's really going to kill you." Halil mustered the courage to stop his boss from willingly embracing death. He couldn't believe his wife's romantic novels had some truth to them. But this was insanity. And he never expected insanity from Serkan Bolat. He was smart, ruthless, and exceptionally clever. He wasn't an idiot.
What happened now? He was about to commit a stupid and insane move. For what?
A woman who hated him. The same woman he loved and as ready to die for was plotting against him from the first moment. She used him, his vulnerabilities and insecurities to harm him.
Yet, Serkan Bolat was ready to drink the poison from her hands and embrace death like an old friend.
He couldn't be an idiot. There has to be a plan, but even Halil knew he didn't have one.
"Then I will die." Halil's boss replied grimly, but there wasn't a hint of sadness in his voice. He was eager to see her. He wanted to look at her face when she pulled the gun. He wanted to look in her eyes when she pulled the trigger.
He wanted to die in her arms.><
She was pathetically anxious. This wasn't how she planned it. Her fingers were knotted tightly while she played with them. She was struggling to breathe and couldn't look at him in the eye. She had to do it. This was the plan. It was supposed to happen like this.
And most of all, she had to do it to prove to her aunt that she wasn't in love with Serkan.
Eda Yildiz hadn't betrayed her family like Serkan Bolat. She was going to avenge her sister and father's death just like they had planned earlier.Yes, she went weak for some time. She wanted to believe she was wrong. She made attempts to believe that it wasn't Serkan behind her family's destruction, but all her attempts put her into a never-ending maze. All proofs were against him.
As much as she wanted to believe otherwise, he was the one.He had to die. How else would she make her aunt believe that she hated him too?
"You won't have the wine?" He broke the heartwrenching silence between them.
They hadn't spoken a single word for the past 45 minutes. Eda was wearing her white silk gown that barely covered her thighs.Apparently, they were on a date arranged by Eda on a beach under an open sky, full moon, and her favorite sky ladened with stars.
There weren't any rose petals around, but there were candles brewing his favorite lavender fragrance all around. She didn't arrange fancy food but some wine and her baked brownies- with walnuts as he liked it.
She was trembling, nervous as hell. It wasn't even the case when she lost her virginity or received her scholarship. Despite the years of training, she couldn't remember how to pull the trigger. Before leaving home, she forgot to keep the pistol.
"Hayir." Despite her refusal, Serkan pushed the glass to her lips, and she barely took a sip, but her lips left a mark on the glass rim.
Serkan looked into her eyes and, without breaking the eye contact, sipped from the exact place, the lipstick leaving its traces on his lips. She hadn't kissed him when they greeted her, and Serkan didn't push her either.
"You look beautiful." He whispered, barely audible yet assertive. He was mesmerized? She couldn't tell, but she made sure to wear his gifted earrings and his mother's ring tonight. It seemed ridiculous and an insult to his deceased mother but Serkan especially requested her to do so.
"Serkan-" She was going to tell him to stop. His softness was killing her insides and she wanted to run away. His gaze was burning her eyes and filling her with a never-ending sense of shame and guilt.
No, she couldn't do this. She had something to prove.
"I can listen to my name from your lips all my life. It sounds better." Serkan raised from the chair and held her hand, helping her get up. His fingers wrapped around her waist, caressed her spine, and then moved towards her red lips. He traced those lips that used to kiss him endlessly, setting him on fire. He was never going to feel their touch again. He was never going to hear his name from them.
The pain in his eyes was evident but he wasn't heartbroken. He was just- disappointed at life for being cruel to them.
"You know why we are here, right?" Eda uttered as he pulled her closer. She felt it came out as a sob."Evet." Serkan replied nonchalantly still admiring her lips, swaying lighting. He pecked her cheekbone.
"Then why""End is inevitable. I'd rather have it from your hands than someone else." He pulled himself closer and whispered in her ear as if there was someone around them- little did he know there was.
Eda's aunt witnessed the spectacle all along to ensure Eda killed the enemy. Her stupid niece had fallen for the enemy, and she had to make sure the deed was done.
"KILL HIM." She came out of her hide out with her gun on Eda's head.
Eda looked at her with brimmed eyes, surprised and numb, unlike Serkan who was still holding her hand. He wasn't surprised to see her but he couldn't believe this mad woman was so crazy to kill her own niece. Eda was nothing but a pawn for her and his silly lover was naive enough to fall for things that were fed
"Kill him, or I'll you first and then him."
"I can't." Eda burst into tears and looked at Serkan shaking her head like a child. She was holding the pistol with the bullet carrying his name."EDA DO IT." Serkan placed the gun on his forehead, urging her to kill him and end this for once and all.
"PULL THE TRIGGER." Her aunt shouted from the other end while Serkan urged her to do the same.
She was crying endlessly. She couldn't do it.
She loved him so much."Do you know why we love the smell of ground? Because our loved ones are in it. Why shall I shoot you? To make the ground smell more beautiful?" Eda told him with a hint of smile.
She sniffed and this time she wasn't sobbing like before. Her tears stopped and Serkan noticed the change in her eyes. It scared him.
He didn't know what it was, but he felt something was wrong.
Her eyes changed their colors and scared him to death. It screamed danger, but it happened so fast that Serkan couldn't comprehend anything.
And within blink of eye, Serkan face was drenched in blood.
He heard the gunshot but didn't feel any pain. He thought she pulled the trigger but no-She fell in his arms, her white dress drenched in blood. Before her aunt could shoot him Halil was there to hold her back.
But Sekran didn't care.
Eda was breathing her last in his arms, her right hand caressing his cheek with so much love in her eyes that he felt it would drown him.
"EDA.""At least, I'm dying with your name immersed in my heart." She smiled ironically and looked at the starry sky, looking beautiful as ever.
She couldn't have asked for a better end. His named bullet in her heart, the beautiful sky, arms of the man she loved and the only affirmation she needed- he loved her so much that he was ready to die for her.
END.
