The night was dark and Bolat mansion was drowned in silence. Except for the clock's ticking, there was no sound to be heard. The silence was nothing more than peace after a chaotic day in that house. The silent night was also a gateway for some people in the house to figure out their sleeping schedules. Yet, they were awake, and to be precise widely awake because these were the only moments to cherish silence and personal time that wasn't available these days.
Life had never been this hectic for each one of them.
'Shhhh.' Serkan voiced his annoyance when Eda tickled his neck and smiled sheepishly. Her head rested right above his waist and Serkan's back was pressed against the bed. He was wearing his glasses (it had been a few weeks since the doctor strongly recommended him to wear them while working) and Eda couldn't have loved the doctor more for this. Those glasses made him ten times hotter and irresistible just like tonight. He was beautifully naked, reading some papers with great interest and the focus was such that he wasn't even giving in to Eda's sultry advances. She wasn't a poor player either. She continued to trace a path from his pecs to the adam apple of his neck.
'Lie.' He muttered, and she looked at him with wide eyes.
'Love.' He uttered after she traced another pattern with her fingers this time.
'Sex.' He let out a chuckle and refused to look at her beaming face.
'Horny.' He scrunched his brows followed by a burst of hearty laughter and finally gave Eda the look she had been yearning for so long.
'You're spoilt.' He pulled her further on his chest and put the file aside.
'And you are terrible,' She pouted when Serkan placed a deep kiss on her forehead. Eda pushed herself closer and held his lips into hers. She deepened the kiss and swirled her tongue in his mouth. She could feel hard-on against her thigh and the first thought that crossed their minds was, THIS IS IT. Finally!
The happiness was short-lived and Eda Serkan stopped with their movements immediately. They opened their eyes in shock and their faces gave a tired look instantly.
'It's your turn.' Serkan pulled away and told her sternly.
'Serkan.....'
'Eda.' He stressed on her name with all seriousness.
'NE? You forget you're the reason she's here at first place?'
'You have regrets?' He raised his eyebrows and scrutinized her face closely.
'So you won't go?'
'Hayir, I got to work on this.' He nodded his head in a fierce denial and waved the file in front of her.
'Cant believe you're the one who wanted to be a father in the first place.' Eda grimaced.
'Stop with the emotional blackmail, it won't help. It's your turn.' He pushed her away and as the cries of their eight month old baby girl turned violent, it meant that now Eda had to leave the bed anyhow.
Parenthood is beautiful but it doesn't mean that staying awake till 3 am is fun because your child keeps on waking up for milk or a hug. Eda was curious to know what was it this time.
'Aaaaaand here we go! You have created quite some mess here.' She spoke in a tune while taking off Kiraz's nappy.
'Just like your dad. Both of you have a thing for messing with my sleep and room.' Eda was amazed at her daughter was wide awake at this hour of the night and hearing her with a wide grin as if she could understand every single word.
'You said she won't wake up at night If we stop sleeping with her.' Eda scold the person on phone while cleaning up Kiraz with the other hand.
'Ipek, your motherly experience is of no use.'
'Tamam Tamam, I know you taught me how to give a burp and change diapers but none of your advices have worked for Kiraz's sleep. I feel like my insomina days are back.'
Eda switched off the phone and looked at her daughter who looked exactly like her except for her eyes. They were her father's. She never knew that she had the slightest tendency to be a mother. Of course, she wasn't the best mom, but when Kiraz would hold her finger or cling to her during breastfeeding, it exploded her heart with an inexplainable feeling. She couldn't name it because it was more than love.
Eda held Kiraz in her arms and began to roam in the room in an attempt put her to sleep.
'What is it canim? Bak, you're all clean now. Are you hungry?' She asked in a baby voice and looked at Serkan who had been standing at the door with his arms crossed against his broad chest. She didn't know for how long he was there but she did know it wasn't the first time.
It was his favorite thing to do.
He loved seeing his girls like this. Maybe, because the concept of family and more specifically the concept of having a family with Eda Yildiz didn't strike him in his wildest dreams. Whenever he would see how Eda tries everyday to be the best version of herself as a mother. It wasn't easy for her and he knew that. The pregnancy and the circumstances that followed by while she still believed him to be the murderer of her family, he knew how astonishingly brave she had been till the last moment. She carried the scar of her bravery and he would tell her while making love by kissing it that she did him a great favor by carrying his child. He loved her but more than that he respected her for what she did and continued to do despite her own problems.
'Are you here to check if I am doing my job right?' She joked and sat down on the bed deciding the reason for Kiraz's restlessness was hunger.
Serkan looked at her with sheer concentration as if he hadn't seen her breastfeeding Kiraz earlier.
'I am just here to enjoy the sight that I don't get to have anymore,'
Eda let out a loud laugh and threw a pillow at him. 'You're disgusting! Jealous of your own daughter now?'
'Envious baby, I am envious.' He strolled closer and placed a small kiss on her lips. Eda knew why he was here. Despite those days when it was her turn, he would always join her and help with everything. Like many of those nights, Serkan sat beside them and waited for Eda to feed Kiraz so he would put her to bed and be there till morning and feed her again with breast milk in one of the bottles they had kept so Eda would catch some sleep.
.........
It was late at night and Eda hated waking up like this. After battling insomnia for so long and finally recovering from it, she only desired for a good sleep throughout the night. It usually went great but tonight was different. It was almost 4 in the morning and when she stretched her leg to find her perfect pillow, her eyes opened instantly. All these years, and she was still addicted to the musky scent that helped her sleep.
She raised her eyebrows wondering why would her husband leave bed at this hour of the night. Her sleep was already disturbed and she knew sleep won't even touch her a bit despite trying. Hence, Eda decided to get out of the warm blanket in search of her husband's whereabouts.
The house was drenched in darkness and she would've slipped if she wasn't holding the flash. The silence added more to her curiosity until she finally fugured out the ongoing conspiracies in her house for the last two weeks.
There it was.
The two culprits.
Eda crossed her arms and wondered how come they were so lost in their conpiracy against her that they couldn't feel her presence especially Serkan.
'Shhh, that's enough now.'
'Hayir, more.'
'We are gonna get killed!'
'Are you scared?'
'Of course, NOT, I am dead scared. Come on, that's it,'
'One last spoon baba.'
'Peki tamam, three more and we are closing the fridge.'
The two thieves were sitting right in front of the fridge, with its door open. She had to give it to them that they didn't turn on the lights AT ALL. She had been wondering why was Kiraz's flu not getting better and who was stealing the icecream. She couldn't connect the dots because she didn't trust her husband to be so careless. Yet he was. Giving in completelt when it came to the love of his life.
Eda didn't need any light to see Kiraz's dripping nose while she was chugging herself with as much icecream as she could into those three spoon her baba had allowed. She was fuming but the sight warmed her heart too.
She knew she had a weak spot for Serkan being with kids since the day she saw him with Nazli. And now, with his own daughter he was something else.
'Having fun guys?' She broke the trance of her daughter's giggles who was laughing at her baba.
'We were just-'
'Checking if the icecream had expired or not?'
'Eda-'
'Kiraz, straight to bed immediately.' She looked at her 5 year old with those cold eyes that were enough to scare her.
'We were just-' Serkan bit his lip and Eda couldn't help but drool at how cute he looked wearing Kiraz's beanie and those dragon shorts he wore since Kiraz started watching cartoons.
'She's been unwell since a week Serkan.'
'I know, but not having icecream makes her even worse.'
'SERKAN. What are you, five?'
'Doctors don't know anything,'
'And lawyers do?'
'I can't say no to her.'
'Tamam, you're sleeping outside.'
'You can't be serious. Its fucking minus three Eda.'
'Exactly, and you thought feeding your already sick daughter icecream at 4 in the morning was a good idea?'
'She's fine.'
'SERKAN HER NOSE IS DRIPPING. HAVEN'T YOU HEARD HER COUGHING NONSTOP?'
'You are boring,'
'What's next? A witch who is mean to children?'
'Can't call you an angel either baby.'
'You are so much like dad sometimes that it annoys me.'
'Well, he spoilt you, and I am spoiling my girl. It's fair enough.'
'And you want Kiraz to become someone like me?'
Serkan moved closer and whispered a 'Evet' in her ear.
'No sex for you now,'
And she left leaving a disappointed Serkan who couldn't eat his wife and the icecream to his fill.
