Julia

I've never seen someone like her. Her hazel eyes that I could get lost in for hours, her long dark brown, almost black, hair that framed her face so perfectly. Her long dark lashes and the freckles that cover her face. The sharp features and that slightly tanned skin.

She is perfect.

People always misunderstood her and made fun of her because she wasn't 'girly'.

I mean, what even is considered girly?

She is on the same grade as me and spends most of her time studying in the school's library. People call her Vic but no one really knows her name, except the teachers, of course, but no one ever bothered to ask.
She is one of the top students in the whole school and people make fun of her for being 'a nerd'.
I don't think she has many friends, not in here at least.

I snap out of my thoughts as the teacher calls my name. "Julia, you have to pay attention. We have an exam next week."

I completely forgot about that.

Thankfully the bell rang soon and the day was officially over for me.

"Me and Cade have to get going or we'll miss the bus."

I heard my friend Indy yell as she dragged her boyfriend out of the door behind her.

"Bye."

Great.

Now I'll have to walk back home by myself.

Usually me and Indy would walk together as we live close to each other, but she and Cade were apparently going on a date to some restaurant.

As I was walking down the hallway, I thought of Vic again when I saw the library doors.

Should I go check if she's there?

As I got closer to the entrance of the library I realized that the door wasn't fully closed. I hesitated as I reached for the door handle, but just as I was about to open the door to step inside, I noticed a familiar figure sitting at the long table in the middle of the library hall.

It's her.

There she was, holding a book in her hands and turning it around like she was looking for something. Unsatisfied, she put the book down and took another one from the pile in front of her.

I couldn't help but notice how her button up's first few buttons were opened. The black sweater, that she normally wore on top of her uniform, was on the floor near her backpack.

Our school uniforms were simple; girls wore a white button up with a black pleated skirt and a red tie around their neck, just like the boys wore a white button up with black trousers and a red tie.

What I had noticed before, was that Vic wore the guy's uniform, which was quite unusual as the school's rules were pretty strict.

I mean, I understand why she most likely wears the boy's uniform. She is very tall, 6'2 at least, so the skirt would be to short on her and against the rules.

Who even made those rules? You may ask. Well, the answer is someone in the late 1800s I guess, as they haven't been updated to fit the modern standards.

I realize that I have been standing there staring at her for quite a while once I get back into this reality from my thoughts.

I still don't know if I should go inside or just leave at this point.

Why am I even scared?

At that moment I notice her getting up from her seat and I quickly close the door and start walking towards the schools exit.
