Nevaeh Pov

"What is the one thing I asked?" my father yelled angrily as my silbings and I walked back to our hut. My hand was on my ilp, trying to stop the bleeding. Neteyam pressed his left hand against the side of his face. Lo'ak had been attempting to hold his arm since the fight. Our father looked out to see if anyone could hear us. Our father was dissatisfied with us. "the one thing," he said sternly in a harsh tone. I lowered my head to avoid my father's stare. I could tell he was more disappointed in me than in my brothers. " Stay out of trouble," mumbled Lo'ak. " Stay out of trouble," our father said again. "It's my fault," Neteyam admitted. I knew then that I was in big trouble. "I don't think so," our father said, knowing it was me and Lo'ak. "You've got to stop taking the heat for this, knuckleheads," he said. "But Dad Aonung was picking Kiri. He called her a freak." Lo'ak attempted to explain himself. Our father appeared to shift his position slightly, as if he actually realised what had truly occurred. He gripped his teeth. I could tell he knew we weren't to blame for what had occurred. "Go apologize to Aonung," our father advised. My face was surprised, and I scoffed as me and lo'ak both looked at each other. "Do you understand that he is the chief's son I don't care how you do it as long as you make peace." Lo'ak walked out, shaking his head in disbelief. I then exited with Lo'ak. "Nevaeh you stay here. "I need to talk to you," he explained. I then paused my step because I knew everything was going to fall apart. Neteyam was about to walk out when our father stopped him and asked, "hey, so how did the other guys look like?" he said quietly, thinking I wouldn't be capable of hearing him. "worse" neteyam stated politely. "That's good," our father said. "much worse neteyam managed to have a slight smile. "All right, now get out of here," he said, trying to hide his pride in us. My father turned to me as Neteyam walked out of the hut. "What has happened to you, Nevaeh? "I understand how difficult this has been for you, but that doesn't give you the right to act like this!" he said sternly. I looked at him after looking at the ground and trying not to shed tears. " dad.. I took a moment to reflect. " I had no choice. I couldn't just let Aonung continue to pick on Kiri, and anyway, you told me to protect my siblings no matter what, and I did." He then looked at me and said, "We're trying to fit in here; we can't just do whatever we want because we think it's right," he said harshly. "But dad, you said sullys stick together, so I'm not going to apologize for standing up for my sister," I said sternly. I couldn't believe we were talking about this. I then looked at him, expecting him to say something, but he didn't. so , I started to leave the hut. I was angry, but I had to keep it together. I then sat on the sand and viewed the sea while attempting to think of anything that would make me happy. I despised this place so much that I convinced myself that we would never fit in. Just then, I heard footsteps approaching me. My father sat next to me and attempted to hold a conversation with me. "Nevaeh.." he said calmly. "What is it, baby girl?" he asked. "Is it this place?" he asked. I nodded. "It's just that I miss the forest, dad. I mean, are we ever going to fit in here?" I said calmly as I looked at him, a disheartening expression on my face. He then put his hand on my shoulder and said, "It's going to take time," he said. "Are we ever going back?" As my voice broke, I said. He sighed and then said. "I promise we'll go back when it's all over." I then hugged him while sobbing quietly in his arms. After a brief conversation with my father, I noticed Neteyam approaching from behind and taking aonung in his hands. I had a feeling something was wrong. "Tell them what you told me," Neteyam said. Aonung took Neteyam's hand off his back and told us that Lo'ak had left, and my face went blank, as I knew this wasn't going to end well...
