Chapter 13

Nevaeh Pov:

We returned to the village a few minutes later, and my heart was racing so fast that I couldn't think straight. I stepped off my liu, with tuk. I assisted her and told her to stay with Neteyam while I went to get help. I dashed straight to our hut. Many thoughts raced through my mind: what if she never wakes up? What if she doesn't recover? Then I saw my father and mother. "DAD, SOMETHING HAPPENED TO KIRI " I yelled, my voice shaking. His face sagged and his smile faded. "WHERE IS SHE?" he yelled, worried about what had happened to her. My mother's face turned shocked, and I could tell her stomach dropped as she took a few steps back, realising what I had just said. "DAD SHES WITH NETEYAM," my voice trembled, and tears welled up in my eyes. I couldn't believe it was happening.  My parents then followed me to where they were. They were at the beach's edge, along with Roxto, Aonung, and Tsireya. neteyam was holding kiri in his arms. "Dad, she had a seizure," Neteyam explained, his voice cracking . My father then took kiri in his arms while rushing away, while my mother held tuk.

Kiri had been unconscious all evening. We waited for her to wake up, but she didn't. I could hear the other Navi's Men conversing with my father. "There is no bleed, fracture, or indication of hypoxia. The Brain  appears to be in good shape " Then why was she like this? I thought. I then started praying to Ewya for Kiri to wake up. I didn't want to lose her, I reasoned. as I fought back tears. Then Ronald approached our hut. I then took a step back, allowing her to continue walking. Hoping She could help Kiri . "I can tell I'm not needed here," she sneered. Mom then reached out and took her arm. " You are Tsahik." My mother spoke to her in hushed tones. Ronal then looked at her before turning to face the Navi men who'd been attempting to assist Kiri. "Remove these things," Ronald insisted, looking back at my mother.  "OUT! you have done nothing!" my mother yelled harshly at them. "Come on, let's take a break," my father said as they all went outside to talk with him about what they had noticed so far. Ronal then set her basket down and began to help. I then left the hut to speak with Lo'ak and Neteyam. "Do you think she'll be okay?" I told both of my brothers. Then they both gazed with a sorrowful face at each other, and Neteyam generally frowned. "I don't know bro," Lo'ak admitted. "She'll be okay," Neteyam assured me as he approached to hug me. I then invited Lo'ak to join in the hug, and he simply smiled. I saw Ronal and Tuk on my way back to the hut a few minutes later. Her hand was resting on Kiri's right forearm. Kiri let out a gasp as she continued. My eyes lit up and a smile emerged on my face. "Kiri," I heard Tuk say with a cheerful voice as a smile appeared on her face. I then moved closer to Kiri and held her arm, and our mother came to hold her hand and tears flowed from her eyes. "Thank you, great Mother," I said, smiling and looking at Kiri. My dad came after my mother came and i then stood up letting him be next to kiri. my brothers My father arrived after my mother, and I stood up to allow him to sit next to Kiri. My brothers then entered the hut. Kiri then sobbed and was immediately calmed by our mother. "My sweet child," my mother said. I then made a big sign of relief that she was alright.
