Everyone was in the living room minding their own business as usual. Y/n was sat, snuggled into Liam, reading her book while he had a conversation with Frank.
"Listen up!" Tracy shouted from the door, everyone went quiet and looked at her as she walked into the middle of the living room. "I've been offered a job in London!" She smiled, "As a junior reporter for a newspaper!"
"Wow." Carmen said, not very convincingly.
"So I'm leaving." Tracy dropped the bomb. Everyone's faces dropped as they stared at her, "Look, I've dreamt of this job ever since I lived here." Everyone frowned, reacting badly in their own ways, "I'm sorry I can't turn it down, it means too much." Tears were forming in Tracy's eyes and Y/n could tell.
"And we don't?" Sapphire smiled sarcastically from where she was standing at the pool stable, leaning on her pool stick, "Well that puts us in our place." She put the stick down on the table and began to walk out before Tracy stopped her.
"No I-I didn't mean it like that." Tracy stuttered.
"Don't beat yourself up Beaker," Sapphire stood in front of her, "You're just one in a long line of care workers. Easy come easy go." Sapphire pushed past her and left the room.
"Bye bye Tracy." Harry said, following Sapphire out of the room.
"I'm not leaving yet." Tracy told him.
"I think this is great." Carmen said from where she was sitting on the sofa, "You can write about us all and make us famous." Liam was angrily shuffling the playing cards and Y/n grabbed his hands, holding them.
"Well I don't know about famous, but I would like to write about you." Tracy's eyes were now glassy, as were Y/n's, "I want you to tell me what it's like to be in care."
"You already know what it's like to be in a care home." Lilly said angrily, looking Tracy up and down.
"Yeah but the editor wants the article to be from your point of view." Tracy told them, "It's kind of a test."
"Hold on, hold on!" Liam leaned forward, "You want to leave, but you want our help?" He stood up, grabbing Y/n's hand and she followed, "Sorry Tracy but that sucks."
"Liam, Y/n please-" Tracy called as they walked past her,
"You want out?" Y/n turned around, "Fine, go. But you don't get to walk in here, tell us you're leaving, and then say you need our help to leave. You always said this was like your family, but as soon as your fancy new job offer comes along you drop us like rubbish!" Y/n's voice was raised and tears were threatening to fall, "Screw you Tracy Beaker." The tears finally made their way down her face as Liam put his arm around her and led her out, everyone else following.

That night, Y/n, Lilly, Carmen and Tee were all in the bathroom brushing their teeth.
"She doesn't like us anymore." Lilly said bluntly. Tracy's announcement had clouded the whole day at Elm Tree House.
"She does, she just likes being a writer better." Tee told her.
"Maybe if they do her article, they'll want photos to go with it and then buy us new clothes." Carmen suggested making Tee giggle.
"As if!" Lilly retorted, "Liam and Y/n are right we shouldn't do the article."
"Why are you so cross with Tracy?" Tee asked her, "She can leave if she wants to!"
"She said she'd help me get back with Poppy and Rosie, she promised and now she's leaving." Lilly shouted.
"She's leaving us behind with a bunch of promises that she made and hasn't kept," Y/n stated, "And if that wasn't bad enough, she wants our help to get her new job in order to leave. How stupid is that?" Lilly nodded in agreement.
